Two-time Emmy Nominee, multimedia journalist Mariela Murdocco started her career in journalism in New York nearly twelve years ago as reporter and photographer for many local (The Daily News Español), national and international publications. Her six-year TV career includes the educational national network HITN-TV, and most recently, NBC’s Telemundo 47 where she worked as writer and producer for Noticiero 47 (Emmy Nomination 2009) and as writer, content and line producer for Acceso Total (Emmy Nomination 2011). In radio, she co-hosted the 2004 Olympic Games for a local Spanish-language station, as well as New York correspondent for Radio Nacional (Uruguay).

After writing in Spanish for more than a decade, Mariela has recently
started working in Anglo media for Fox News Latino and is a blogger
for the Huffington Post Latino Voices.

Among her other honors, in 2007 Mariela won a New York Times Fellowship to the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia
University.

Her work has covered everything from arts, music and entertainment to
health, finance, education, politics, environment and community.
Mariela has a special love for entertainment and music, she has
covered (as reporter and photographer) literally hundreds of concerts
and performing arts shows.

Parallel to her work as a journalist, she is also an independent TV
and documentary producer and does professional photography. Mariela is proud to be an active member of the National Association of Hispanic
Journalists.

Mother of two and married to an American, Mariela was born in Uruguay
having emigrated to New York City in 1997. Part of a bilingual home,
she still keeps close ties to her Latina roots which is a continual
source of inspiration and motivation behind her interest in social and
cultural issues.
