Cristiano Ronaldo se alzó por segunda ocasión consecutiva como el Mejor Futbolista del año, al recibir este lunes el Balón de Oro 2014.
El delantero portugués del Real Madrid cumplió con una temporada muy destacada, que le valió derrotar en las votaciones al argentino Lionel Messi y al alemán Emanuel Neuer.
Ronaldo fue pieza clave del equipo merengue que ganó por décima ocasión la Liga de Campeones de Europa y el Mundial de Clubes. Logró 61 goles en el año, siendo el máximo romperredes a nivel mundial, e imponiendo récord de goles en la Copa de Europa
"Quiero alcanzar a Lionel Messi (con cuatro Balones de Oro), no me quita el sueño, pero es algo que quiero hacer", aceptó al recibir su premio de manos del francés Thierry Henry.
El portugués de 29 años se unió a otros grandes exponentes del fútbol mundial al sumar tres balones de oro en su carrera.
"Quiero entrar a la historia como el mejor... Siempre quiero ganar, a nivel grupal y distinciones a nivel individual, por eso voy a trabajar día a día", concluyó con un sonoro grito de triunfo en el estrado.
Después de un año marcado por la Copa del Mundo Brasil 2014, la FIFA reconoció a los mejores exponentes de la disciplina en el Centro de Congresos de Zurich, Suiza. A la ceremonia se dieron cita grandes ídolos del balombié internacional, tanto del presente como del pasado.
La presentadora Kate Abdo fue la encargada de conducir la premiación que se tomó un tiempo para enviar un mensaje de solidaridad en la lucha contra la epidemia del ébola y de rechazo a los ataques a la libertad de expresión, con la leyenda 'Je Suis Charlie'.
