México festeja su Día de la Independencia el 16 de septiembre, pero las celebraciones comienzan la noche anterior con el famoso "Grito de Dolores".
El Grito es una llamada y respuesta masiva que conmemora el momento en que el cura Miguel Hidalgo hizo un llamado en contra de los conquistadores franceses y españoles y en contra de los élites "gachupines", un término que se refiere a los colonizadores de España.
Tras tres siglos de domino español, México enfrentaba circunstancias cambiantes después de que Napoleón Bonaparte conquistara España, mantuviera al rey Fernando VII en cautiverio y nombrara a su hermano, José, como rey.
El llamado de Hidalgo impulsó a la gente a sublevarse en su pequeño pueblo de Dolores y a la larga provocó la Guerra de Independencia de México.
En honor a esto, cada año en la noche del 15 de septiembre, mexicanos en todo el mundo se reúnen para celebrar "El Grito" con estas palabras:
¡Mexicanos!
¡Vivan los héroes que nos dieron patria!
¡Viva Hidalgo!
¡Viva Morelos!
¡Viva Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez!
¡Viva Allende!
¡Vivan Aldama y Matamoros!
¡Viva la independencia nacional!
¡Viva México!
¡Viva México!
¡Viva México!
Así es cómo se celebró El Grito de Dolores:
La gente se reunió en espacios públicos
Y celebraron con fuegos artificiales
Algunos bailaron
Otros eligieron celebraciones llenas de adrenalina
La comida y las bebidas fueron una necesidad
Los mariachis hicieron una aparición
Y, por supuesto, El Grito
¡Feliz Día de la Independencia, México!
