CIUDAD DE MÉXICO - Miguel Herrera se convirtió oficialmente este domingo en el cuarto entrenador de la selección mexicana en los últimos dos meses.
Como el presidente de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol, Justino Compeán, había adelantado el viernes al anunciar el cese de Víctor Manuel Vucetich, el 'Piojo' junto a todo su equipo de trabajo tomará las riendas del 'Tri' para encarar la serie de repechaje contra Nueva Zelanda en noviembre.
El técnico del América llega al banquillo mexicano en una medida desesperada en busca de implementar el exitoso estilo de juego en la selección.
"Tenemos una idea de juego, por eso la base es americanista. Sabemos que el grupo va a adquirir rápido lo que pretendo en la cancha", dijo en conferencia de prensa acompañado de Ricardo Peláez, Héctor González Iñárritu y Compeán.
"No vamos a dar espectáculo así por que si, aquí se trata de ganar, entonces daremos espectáculo ganando", agregó quien en su etapa de jugador engrosó las filas de la selección.
"Vamos a ir al Mundial", dijo confiado el entrenador que dirigió por última vez al América la noche del sábado en el empate contra Cruz Azul. Según la FMF Herrera regresará a su equipo para la liguilla, una vez terminado el compromiso de la selección.
El 30 de octubre México enfrentará a Finlandia en San Diego en partido de preparación rumbo a su crucial cita.
Iñárritu por su parte, pidió solidaridad a la afición: "Ha sido un año muy malo para nosotros, pero le pedimos a la afición que apoye".
