ANTIGUA OLIMPIA, Grecia (AP) — La llama olímpica para los Juegos de Invierno de Sochi fue encendida el domingo sin contratiempos en el sur de Grecia, antes de que inicie su jornada por nueve husos horarios de Rusia e incluso por el espacio, rumbo a los juegos que se efectuarán del 7 al 23 de febrero.

La ceremonia fue realizada por actrices vestidas como sacerdotisas en la cuna de los Juegos Olímpicos de la Antigüedad, en la que la llama se enciende con los rayos del sol reflejados por un espejo cóncavo. El astro de la NHL Alex Ovechkin será el primer ruso involucrado en los relevos de la antorcha.
