Retrasos en los estadios, amenazas de huelga y deficiencias en la logística son algunos de los problemas con los que se ha enfrentado la Copa Confederaciones 2013, sin embargo todo se olvidará cuando este sábado ruede el balón en Brasilia en el partido entre los anfitriones y el campeón de Asia, Japón.

A un año de la Copa del Mundo, Brasil abre sus puertas al mundo para recibir la Copa Confederaciones 2013 de la cual es el monarca vigente. Ocho selecciones buscan el cetro que se entregará el 30 de junio en Río de Janeiro. El torneo ha ganado respeto desde su creación en 1992, pero en el fondo se asume como el gran ensayo previo al Mundial.

Brasil, Italia, México y Japón integran el Grupo A del torneo, el llamado grupo de la muerte. Cariocas y azzurris acumulan nueve campeonatos mundiales. los mexicanos ya han ganado la copa y nadie puede descartar a los japoneses.

El 'Scratch du Oro' está obligado por su calidad de anfitrión y tiene en Neymar su carta más fuerte. Abrirá el torneo ante los nipones que ya se han clasificado al Mundial.

El 'Tri' llega a la competencia lleno de dudas, en el tercer lugar de la Eliminatoria de CONCACAF, con una victoria y sólo tres goles anotados en seis juegos. Se medirán ante Italia, el subcampeón de la última Eurocopa, que históricamente ha despreciado este torneo, pero que ahora promete dar el 100%.

En el Grupo B está el campeón del Mundo y de Europa, España. Le acompaña el monarca de América, Uruguay, Nigeria representante de África y Tahití, sorprendente ganador de Oceanía.

El equipo español es marcado como amplio favorito inclusive para ganar el torneo. Los charrúas viven un momento aciago en las Eliminatorias Sudamericanas, que los tiene al borde de la eliminación, pero nunca se los puede descartar. Tahití y Nigeria buscan un sorpresivo pase a semifinales.
