LAS VEGAS - Tras una ausencia de un año exacto, el estadounidense Floyd Mayweather Jr. regresará a los encordados en su casa: el MGM Grand de Las Vegas, Nevada, para defender la corona mundial Welter del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo.

Mayweather, quien se ha presentado en el MGM en sus últimos seis encuentros, enfrentará en esta ocasión al mexicoamericano Robert Guerrero en una contienda pactada a 12 asaltos.

Ahora con 36 años de edad, Floyd ha dejado en claro muchas de las diferencias respecto a aquel peleador que caía en el juego de sus rivales y contestaba cualquier tipo de provocación. Ahora más maduro y concentrado no sólo en las peleas, sino también en los negocios, Mayweather muestra una nueva etapa en su carrera.

Durante la ultima semana de promoción, 'MoneyMay' – quien tendrá una bolsa asegurada superior a los 35 millones de dólares que ganó en su última aparición, convirtiéndose en la bolsa más jugosa – ha destacado la carrera de Guerrero y reconoció que si llegó a este punto de su carrera fue a base del esfuerzo y buenas apariciones.

“Esto es boxeo de primer nivel, quiero regresarle esa magia que tenía en el pasado y eso se logrará sólo enfrentando a los mejores contra los mejores”, admitió el multicampeón, quien siente que su labor por regresar el renombre al boxeo no es reconocida, pero aseguró seguirá trabajando.

En los momios Mayweather es amplio favorito con un -750, mientras que Guerrero es el underdog por ÷500. Si alguien apuesta por el nocaut del Fantasma gana 40-1.
