El argentino Sergio Martínez y el inglés Martin Murray tienen confianza en una gran preparación por eso el prometer un nocaut no les suena para nada descabellado.

“Todo está mejor que nunca. Tenemos mucha confianza y la expectativa es enorme. Estoy más animado que nunca. este fin de semana terminará por nocaut, porque mi confianza y preparación fue muy superior a la pelea que tuve ante Julio César Chávez”, dijo el 'Maravilla' Martínez de 38 años, quien este fin de semana buscará hacer la primera defensa de la corona Media del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo en su natal Argentina.

Entre tanto Murray sentenció: “Yo no viajé tanto para venir a perder. Estoy buscando una victoria clara y no dejaré a los jueces trabajar. El nocaut será la solución y sé que puedo lograrlo”.

Martínez volverá a presentarse ante su gente después de 11 años de ausencia, pues para hacer despegar su carrera buscó suerte en Europa y después en Estados Unidos. Debido a la gran expectativa que ha generado el pleito, se decidió realizar el encuentro en el Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield en Buenos Aires, estadio que espera albergar a los 40,000 aficionados que ya tienen su boleto.

“Es impresionante la manera en que mi gente me ha recibido después de tanto tiempo. Esto conlleva una gran responsabilidad y no le voy a fallar a mi gente. Estoy tan seguro del triunfo que terminaré la pelea en el round 8. Murray no pasará de ahí”, sentenció Martínez.

El argentino, nativo de Quilmes, expondrá la corona Media que recién reconquistó al arrebatársela al mexicano Julio César Chávez en un enfrentamiento que tuvo lugar en Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Nadie me da oportunidad ante Martínez y se equivocan. Yo no viajé tanto para perder. Vine a ganar y lo voy a demostrar. Maravilla pidió esta pelea y le voy a demostrar porqué se equivocó al noquarlo”, auguró el británico 8 años menor que el campeón mundial.

Otros argentinos que llenaron estadios

Con cuatro apariciones en el River Plate, Justo Suárez conocido como el Torito de Mataderos, convocó a grandes cantidades de fanáticos mientras permaneció en el boxeo profesional (1928-1935). Crónicas de la época coinciden en que el peleador llegó a reunir 40 mil personas en la casa de la selección argentina de futbol.

Nicolino Locche

El nativo de Mendoza, Argentina, se consagró campeón mundial en el 68 en la categoría de los Welters. Locche por mucho tiempo fue sinónimo de llenos en el Luna Park. Boxeó de 1958 a 1976 en las que consiguió ganar 117 encuentros de 136 que sostuvo.

Ringo Bonavena

Oscar Bonavena nació en Buenos Aires, Argentina, y fue boxeador profesional de 1964 a 1976, cuando lo mataron en Nevada. Ringo se consagró como uno de los más taquilleros cuando enfrentó a Goyo Peralta en el 65 y lograron una entrada de 25 mil personas.
