SAN ANTONIO - El joven peleador mexicano Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez consiguió una clara victoria la noche del sábado en esta ciudad, al vencer por decisión unánime al estadonidense Austin Trout por puntuaciones de 115-112, 116–111 y 118-109.

El 'Canelo' logró vengar la derrota que sufrió su hermano Rigoberto ante Trout y le arrebató la corona mundial Superwelter de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo al peleador de 27 años de edad.

Cambiando por completo el estilo de pelea, de ofensivo a defensivo, Álvarez sacó por completo de balance a un Trout que está acostumbrado a esperar a sus rivales a que lo ataquen.

“Dije que estaba listo. Demostré que hay canelo para Rato y logré la victoria y vengar a mi hermano. Estoy muy feliz y agradecido”, dijo el tapatío que sumó su victoria número 42 en el terreno profesional.

El round más emotivo de la pelea, fue el round 7 en el que el pelirrojo de 22 años envió a la lona a Trout con un golpe a la mandíbula que lo dejó desmadejado. Haciendo uso de una gran fortaleza y motivación, Trout se paró con ayuda de las cuerdas y tiró golpes al por mayor para evitar que se le acercara el pegador.

“Fue un peleador difícil pero fui listo. Y poco a poco supe como pelearle. Él (Trout) tenia mucha velocidad. Pero lo dominé con mi derecha y mi jab, mi jab fue la clave.”, analizó el mexicano al bajar del ring.

En otra pelea, mostrando potencia de puños y movimientos de cintura efectivos, el peleador mexicoamericano Omar Figueroa logró sumar la victoria número 22 de su carrera profesional al pasarle por encima el primo de Miguel Ángel Cotto, Abner.

En a penas 2 minutos 57 segundos, el nativo de Weslaco, Texas mandó en dos ocasiones a la lona al boricua, quien no pudo recuperarse y terminar el episodio.

Un potente gancho a la boca del estómago mandó de bruces a Cotto a tres segundos de acabar el round y viendo que no podía incorporarse y comenzó a gatear el referi Jon Schorle decidió detener la contienda.

La vergüenza de Tianguistenco

Salvador Sánchez sigue trapeando con el nombre de su tío los encordados de Estados Unidos, la noche del sábado dentro de la cartelera de Canelo vs. Trout el nativo del Estado de México fue noqueado en cinco episodios por el tapatío Andrés Gutiérrez.

El sobrino de una de las figuras más emblemáticas del boxeo mexicano hiló su segundo descalabro por la vía rápida. En juego estaba la corona mundial Plata Supergallo del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo que se encontraba vacante.

Con este descalabro, Sal Sánchez II sumó su sexta derrota profesional en apenas 39 peleas.

En la misma cartelera participó el hermano menor del ex campeón mexicano Érik Morales, Iván. El Niño Maravilla consiguió una victoria por decisión unánime para conservar su foja invicta en 21 encuentros.
