Guillermo Rigondeaux salió del Radio City Music Hall con la victoria más importante de su corta carrera profesional.

Con tan sólo 11 peleas en el terreno de paga, el ex olímpico cubano venció por decisión unánime al filipino Nonito Donaire en un pleito de unificación en donde estaban en juego la corona Supergallo de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo y el Supercampeonato de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo.

A excepción de el susto que le dio Donaire a Rigondeaux en el décimo asalto, donde con un recto de derecha al rostro lo sentó en la lona, el cubano logró imponer el ritmo en su totalidad del duelo.

Sin saber como aplicar las ventajas de alcance y estatura, Nonito cedió la batuta a un ex olímpico cubano que demostró gran clase boxística, elusividad y además dejó en evidencia que tiene una mandíbula a prueba de golpeadores.

“Les dije y nadie me creyó. Hoy demostré que soy el mejor. Hice mi plan de pelea y funcionó”, dijo al termino de la contienda Rigondeaux, quien consiguió la victoria con puntuaciones de 114-113, 115-112 y 116-111 a pesar de que su frecuencia de golpeo fue poca.

Durante la pelea, que resultó ser lo contrario a lo que se esperaba, pues hubo poca acción, el cubano metió los mejores golpes tanto a la cabeza como al cuerpo de un filipino que dejó escapar la victoria por falta de actividad.

Con esta victoria El Chacal Rigondeaux cortó la racha de victorias que Donaire mantenía desde el 2001.

Verdejo sigue invicto

En menos de dos minutos la promesa boricua Felix Verdejo logró una contundente victoria por nocaut técnico en un round sobre el texano Steve Gutiérrez dentro de la cartelera de Nonito Donaire.

El Diamante Verdejo, quien debutó tras los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012, sumó su quinta victoria profesional, de las cuales cuatro han sido por la vía rápida.

Verdejo, de 19 años de edad, terminó la pelea con un potente uppercut que dejó visiblemente lastimado a Gutiérrez. El referi tuvo que intervenir.
