Después de seis horas en que ataúd marrón recorrió las principales calles de Caracas, Venezuela de este a oeste, el féretro de Hugo Chávez llegó a la Academia Militar -donde se iniciará este viernes el velorio de tres días- y allí fue abierto para que familiares y mandatarios que han viajado al país lo vieran por última vez.

Dos fotos principalmente han acaparado la atención del mundo esta mañana del jueves con el ataúd abierto, la cruz detrás y los dolientes más allegados: sus familiares y los mandatarios amigos, que en la madrugada del miércoles llegaron a Venezuela para despedir al líder socialista.

Una de ellas era con Elena Frías, la madre de Chávez junto a sus hermanos Adán, Argenis y Adelis, quienes montaron guardia de honor ante el féretro en un salón de la Academia Militar.

La otra es con la presidenta de Argentina, Cristina Fernandez, el presidente interino de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, el mandario uruguayo José Mújica y el de Bolivia Evo Morales.

El velorio durará tres días y el gobierno venezolano decretó siete días de luto nacional.

El presidente Hugo Chávez murió a consecuencia de un "infarto fulminante" en medio de ardua batalla de casi dos años contra el cáncer, afirmó el jueves el jefe de la guardia presidencial, general José Ornella.

Ornella, quien estuvo con Chávez los dos últimos años de la vida del mandatario, dijo a AP que Chávez hasta el último momento estuvo aferrado a la vida, pero que "un infarto, que le dio fulminante" precipitó su muerte.
