Bernard Hopkins no tiene problema en revelar que la andropausia lo alcanzó y que la primera vez que sintió un sofoco fue corriendo al médico pues pensó estaba enfermo.

A pesar de la situación, el aún peleador de 48 años buscará este fin de semana convertirse de nueva cuenta campeón mundial, rompiendo así el récord Guinnes - instaurado por el mismo en el 2011 - como el monarca más longevo.

El 'Executioner' Hopkins enfrentará este sábado en el Barclays Center de Brooklyn, Nueva York, al monarca mundial Tavoris Cloud con miras a conquistar el campeonato Semicompleto de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo.

"Tengo la motivación, una gran motivación, de demostrar que la gente se equivoca y que puedo llegar a ser campeón de nueva cuenta. La edad es sólo un número", dijo el ex campeón mundial, quien tiene 25 años de carrera profesional y tiene el récord de 20 defensas consecutivas como campeón Medio de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo.

Hopkins mantiene un récord mundial de 52 triunfos, 32 nocauts, 6 derrotas y dos empates y con esta pelea buscará borrar la imagen de su última derrota: ante el estadounidense Chad Dawson el pasado abril, en donde fue superado por decisión mayoritaria.

Por su parte, Tavoris Cloud - peleador 17 años más joven que Hopkins - buscará concretar la quinta defensa de la corona que conquistó al vencer al inglés Clinton Woods en el 2009 y de paso quitar el mal sabor de boca que dejó su último pleito ante el español Gabriel Campillo.
