El conjunto del Paris Saint Germain sufrió en el Parque de los Príncipes, pero al final logró sacar el resultado y, a pesar de que en el juego de vuelta empató a un gol, dejó fuera de los octavos de final de la Champions League al Valencia al eliminarlo por un marcador global de 3-2.

De esta manera, la escuadra parisina avanzó a la siguiente ronda del certamen, después de no hacerlo en 13 años; asimismo, en esta jornada la escuadra de Juventus consiguió su pase a la siguiente ronda, luego de dejar fuera al equipo del Celtic, a quien venció con una pizarra global de 5-0.

EL JUEGO
En los primeros minutos ambos conjuntos no se hicieron daño, teniendo más tiempo la redonda el cuadro francés, pero sin tener mucha profundidad, lo más que pudieron hacer fueron sendos disparos de Pastore y Lucas Moura.

Sin embargo, ante la necesidad de ir por dos anotaciones para avanzar, luego del resultado del partido de ida (2-1), Valencia empezó a equilibrar las acciones y a tener más tiempo la pelota, por lo que al 15' en un gran jugada de Soldado, terminó con cañonazo del delantero a las manos del portero Sirigu.

El cuadro visitante se adueñó por completo de la pelota, pero esto fue más provocado luego de que el cuadro del timonel Carlo Ancelotti se echó para atrás buscando contragolpear; sin embargo, la escuadra del Valencia no tuvo mucha imaginación para abrir el candado defensivo francés.

El encuentro se cayó y las jugadas de peligro brillaron por su ausencia, por parte del equipo local Pastore tuvo un intento al minuto 35 al mandar tiro-centro raso a las manos de Guaita y, del lado valenciano, al 45' su atacante Jonás sacó fuerte riflazo a las manos del arquero, por lo que el primer tiempo quedó sentenciado con el empate a cero goles.

Para el segundo periodo, el timonel Ernesto Valverde quiso fortalecer su mediocampo con el ingreso de Éver Banega, con el objetivo de distribuir balones a sus delanteros; sin embargo, la zaga parisina lució segura y en los primeros minutos no dejó hacer nada al rival.

Pero al 55' por fin el cuadro de Valencia logró su anotación en los botines de Jonás, después de que Tino Costa peleó con un rival el balón fuera del área grande que le quedó a modo a su compañero, que de fuerte derechazo lo mandó al fondo de las redes.

El conjunto de Paris pudo reaccionar hasta el 66' con el gol del empate, gracias a una buena jugada del ingresado Gameiro, quien se quitó a media defensa, pero el balón le quedó al argentino Lavezzi frente al portero, que en el primer chance se lo estrelló a Guaita, pero en el remate mandó al fondo.

La anotación en contra sorprendió a la visita y, a pesar de que se adueñó de la esférica, no logró profundizar en sus ataques, por lo que el tiempo empezó a ser factor en su contra, ya que las imprecisiones aparecieron en los jugadores valencianos.

En los minutos finales, Valencia se fue con todo, pero cayó en centros sin ton ni son, lo que facilitó el trabajo defensivo, por lo que el encuentro quedó sentenciado con el empate y, de este modo, el pase del PSG a la siguiente ronda.
