Hace 6 meses el multicampeón mexicano Juan Manuel Márquez rechazó la idea de enfrentar al mexicoamericano Brandon Ríos argumentando que no sería escalón de nadie. Ahora, al parecer, cambió de opinión.

En entrevista con ESPN, el legendario entrenador mexicano Ignacio Beristain - encargado de la esquina de Juan Manuel por más de 15 años - comentó que ya no buscan enfrentar de nueva cuenta al filipino Manny Pacquiao, ni a ningún otro peleador con guardia zurda. Descartando, de paso, al campeón de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo, Timothy Bradley.

El veracruzano, quien ha sido premiado en múltiples ocasiones por su desempeño como entrenador y estratega, aseguró que para esta ocasión buscan un peleador que busque un encuentro de choque.

Por otro lado, Beristain comentó que Márquez sigue especulando con la idea de enfrentar o no a 'PacMan' en función de si se genera una buena bolsa o no.

"Lo que tampoco queremos es enfrentar a un rival de guardia zurda. Los zurdos, ya nos tienen hasta la madre... Juan ha peleado con 19 zurdos, siempre se los imponen y resulta algo muy complicado.

Juan Manuel, por el momento, se encuentra de visita en Las Vegas, en donde se reunirá con su promotor, el estadounidense Bob Arum, para definir su futuro inmediato. Se tiene contemplado que regrese en septiembre.
