HOUSTON (AP) — Chris Paul, Blake Griffin y Kobe Bryant convirtieron la victoria del Oeste en una parte de la historia de Los Angeles.

Paul tuvo 20 puntos junto con 15 asistencias y fue designado el Jugador más valioso, Byan tapó un intento de remontada de LeBron James y la Conferencia del Oeste derrotó a la Conferencia del Este el domingo por 143-138 en el Juego de Estrellas de la NBA.

Kevin Durant anotó 30 puntos y Griffin finalizó con 19 tantos para sumarse a su compañero con los Clippers, Paul, en la formación de una mella profunda de Los Angeles en el corazón de Texas.

James encestó 19 puntos pero embocó sólo siete de 18 intentos y Bryant le bloqueó de sus tiros en los momentos finales, luego de no tener problemas con el tino durante la última parte de la primera mitad de la temporada. Carmelo Anthony encabezó al Este con 26 puntos y 12 rebotes.

En el 50mo cumpleaños de Michael Jordan, los participantes en el Juego de Estrellas mostraron abundantes acciones que evocaron los días gloriosos de Jordan.

La primera clavada del encuentro cayó a los 16 segundos, cuando Paul envió un pase a Griffin, su compañero en los Clippers, como parte del comienzo 7-0 del Oeste. La Conferencia del Oeste encabezó cada uno de los tres primeros cuartos, aunque nunca con una diferencia mayor de ocho puntos en esos períodos.

Finalmente el Oeste aumentó su ventaja a más de 10 unidades al comienzo del cuarto período con el apoyo de Russell Westbrook y James Harden, pero no pudo definir sino hasta los últimos momentos con una ofensiva de los chicos de la ciudad de Los Angeles, que junto con el pivote Dwight Howard de los Lakers le dieron a Los Angeles todos menos uno de los puestos titulares del Oeste.

Paul conectó dos triples, Bryant encestó una bandeja y su tiro bloqueado a James propició la clavada de Durant que puso el marcador en 136-126. Griffin consiguió una última clavada esforzada para contribuir a sellar el resultado, cuando se dio a sí mismo un pase frente al tablero y mediante un salto poderoso con sus zapatillas de verde neón sumió el balón en el aro para colocar el marcador en 142-134.

Harden sumó 15 puntos en la arena de su equipo, donde los suspiros del partido estuvieron en la cancha y los sonidos en el aro, el cual fue estremecido varias veces por las poderosas clavadas en la mayor parte del encuentro hasta, como siempre, los jugadores frenaron el ritmo en el último tramo.
