El conjunto español de Valencia no pudo sacarle provecho el jugar en su estadio, Mestalla, ya que en el partido de ida de los octavos de final de la Champions League sucumbió 2-1 ante el Paris Saint-Germain, que al final del cotejo perdió a su delantero estrella Zlatan Ibrahimovic por expulsión.

Este resultado pone con un pie dentro de los cuartos de final al cuadro francés, pues ahora el equipo ibérico está obligado a derrotar de visita por diferencia de dos goles; el cotejo de vuelta se llevará a cabo el próximo 6 de marzo en el estadio Parc des Princes.

EL JUEGO

El inicio del partido estuvo del lado valenciano, que desde los primeros minutos buscó hacerse del balón; sin embargo, se encontró con un cuadro francés ordenado en su zona defensiva, por lo que no dejó hacer nada a los locales.

El primer asomo de peligro del Paris llegó al 9' y terminó en el poste derecho de Guaita, luego de un fuerte disparo de Moura fuera del área grande, pero en la siguiente jugada consiguió la primera anotación del encuentro por conducto de Lavezzi al 10'.

La jugada la inició el delantero argentino, que logró hacer una buena pared con su compatriota Javier Pastore que lo dejó solo por el lado derecho del área grande, en donde sin pensarlo sacó escopetazo y puso el balón en las redes, dejando sin oportunidad al arquero Guaita.

Valencia trató de reaccionar y se hizo del balón, buscando hacer daño por las bandas, pero careció de profundidad y equivocó muchos pases, lo más que pudo hacer fue un disapro de Andrés Guardado que se fue por encima del marco enemigo.

El PSG comenzó a contragolpear sin perder el orden en su zaga, por lo que Moura y Lavezzi hicieron trabajar al portero Guaita con sendos disparos, mas antes de terminar el primer tiempo (43'), Pastore logró la segunda anotación para la escuadra visitante, luego de recibir un pase de Moura por el corredor izquierdo.

El timonel Ernesto Valverde hizo cambios en la parte complementaria para buscar darle otra cara a su equipo, por lo que en los primeros minutos logró tener más tiempo la pelota, pero careció de idea para poder abrir el candado defensivo francés, lo mejor fue un cabezazo del ingresado Valdez.

Pero en el primer arribo del cuadro viistante, Lavezzi se perdió el tercero, luego de que el portero le dejara un balón a modo al argentino, después de desviar un disparo desde la banda izquierda de Ibrahimovic al 61'.

El conjunto francés empezó a inclinar la balanza a su favor, pues de nueva cuenta llegó en dos ocasiones con mucho peligro: la primera por medio de Lavezzi, que terminó en la manos del meta, y la segunda en una pared entre Lavezzi e Ibrahimovic, que no logró acabar éste frente a Guaita.

Al 72' a la escuadra francesa se le anuló un gol por fuera de lugar, pero en esta ocasión Valencia sí respondió y se perdió la oportunidad de acortar las distancias en el marcador, luego de una jugada de Valdez en el área chica, pero su tiro lo voló increíblemente cuando estaba solo.

Pero al 89' por fin el cuadro valenciano pudo conseguir su primer gol, el cual llegó en pelota parada, después de que Costa por el lado derecho mandó centro a la llegada de Rami, quien entró sin marca para solamente empujar de volea.

Mas en tiempo de compensación, el conjunto francés se complicó las cosas, al quedarse con un hombre menos, al salir expulsado su delantero estrella Ibrahimovic, luego de una artera falta sobre el mexicano Andrés Guardado, pero al Valencia ya no le dio tiempo y el marcador ya no se movió y quedó sentenciado.
