Aunque las negociaciones aún no están cerradas el multicampeón estadounidense Floyd Mayweather reveló que está muy cerca de concretar la pelea con el novel campeón Devon Alexander, actual monarca de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo.

Floyd hizo el anuncio a pesar de que el organismo que lo avala no está a favor de las peleas de unificación y busca que el apodado 'Money' enfrente al campeón interino de la división, el mexicoamericano Robert Guerrero.

Mayweather no tiene prisa por esclarecer a quien enfrentará el 4 de mayo próximo, en una cartelera en donde el escenario será el Grand Garden Arena del MGM Grand de Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather, según las reglas del organismo que lo avala como monarca Welter, está en la obligación de enfrentar a Guerrero después de que este se coronara como interino a raíz de que Mayweather entrara a la cárcel. Pero todo indica que a Floyd ese tipo de lineamientos lo tienen sin cuidado.

A principios del 2013, se tenía proyectado que Mayweather Jr enfrentara en mayo a Guerrero y para septiembre al monarca mexicano Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez, pero al parecer a Floyd le gusta causar conmoción.

"Fue una sorpresa ese anuncio. Si hay una persona con la que es difícil negociar es con Floyd. Un día dice que si y otro dice que no. Pero espero que se pueda llegar a un acuerdo pues a mi me gustaría que se hiciera el pleito de septiembre", dijo a HuffPost Voces el 'Canelo'.

La última presentación del campeón invicto fue poco antes de entrar a la cárcel a purgar una condena por violencia intrafamiliar y en esa ocasión venció al boricua Miguel Ángel Cotto por decisión unánime en mayo pasado.
