El conjunto de Jamaica consiguió un resultado histórico en este arranque del Hexagonal final de la Concacaf en el mismísimo estadio Azteca, luego de sacarle un empate a cero goles a la selección de México, cotejo en el que destacaron ambos porteros, ya que al final se convirtieron en las figuras de sus combinados.

Después de la primera jornada de la última fase de la eliminatoria rumbo a Brasil 2014, Honduras se quedó en el liderato con tres puntos, seguido con uno por Panamá, Costa Rica, México y Jamaica, y en el fondo sin unidad alguna se ubicó el cuadro de Estados Unidos.

EL JUEGO
Ante la sorpresa de propios y extraños el conjunto caribeño salió muy ordenado sobre el terreno de juego desde los primeros minutos, le cerró todos los espacios al conjunto mexicano, que en los primeros minutos, a pesar de tener el balón, careció de imaginación para poder hacer daño.

Sin embargo, fue la escuadra visitante la que tuvo todo para ponerle número a la pizarra por medio de Joel McAnuff al 8’, quien remató un centro de Garath McCleary por la banda derecha, dejando el balón en el poste inferior derecho, pero el rebote le cayó de nueva cuenta al delantero y, con todo el marco abierto, estrelló la pelota en la humanidad del portero Corona.

México siguió dormido y lo único que pudo hacer fueron sendos disparos a los minutos 13 y 14 de Giovani dos Santos y Oribe Peralta, respectivamente, ambos por el lado derecho, pero que fueron bien resueltos por el portero Ricketts.

La escuadra tricolor continuó con su pobre futbol, lo cual hizo que Jamaica se sintiera cómodo y al 29’ el equipo caribeño, en una falla defensiva azteca, logró llegar con peligro mediante un disparo de Rodolph Austin, que hizo que el arquero Corona mandara a tiro de esquina.

El cuadro del timonel José Manuel de la Torre siguió sin meterse al partido, regalando muchos balones, lo mejor que pudo hacer en la parte final de los primeros 45 minutos fue un tiro de larga distancia de Torres Nilo que se fue por un lado del cancerbero enemigo.

La escuadra mexicana salió para el segundo periodo con otra intención, pues en menos de tres minutos llegó con más idea al arco rival, luego de sendos disparos de Héctor Herrera y Oribe Peralta, haciendo que en el primero el portero se empleara a fondo para evitar la caída de su marco.

De nueva cuenta el cuadro azteca perdió la brújula del partido y empezó a caer en el pelotazo sin hacer daño alguno, pero ahora Jamaica también comenzó a asomarse a la portería de Corona, siendo Joel McAnuff su hombre más importante en la delantera.

Donovan Ricketts salvó a su equipo al 64’ con una magnífica parada, luego de detenerle un disparo a bocajarro a Javier Hernández, quien le quedó la pelota a modo en el área chica y, para su buena suerte, el remate de Carlos Salcido salió por encima cuando éste tenía todo para meterla.

Pero ahora fue Jamaica el que perdonó al 67’, luego de que Andrés Guardado regaló la pelota a Ryan Johnson en el medio campo, éste dirigió el balón y se fue en un mano a mano con Corona, pero su tiro se lo dejó a las manos de cancerbero.

Jamaica continuó agrandado, pues volvió a llegar con mucho peligro por medio de Robinson, quien en una gran jugada individual se quitó de encima con facilidad a Guardado en el área chica, pero Corona, una vez más, achicó y volvió a salvar a su equipo.

En los minutos finales, Javier Hernández tuvo la oportunidad de romper el cero de su equipo al terminar una buena pared con Oribe Peralta que lo dejó solo frente al portero, pero este se erigió como la figura al detenerle la pelota, para de esta manera sentenciar el empate histórico para el cuadro caribeño.
