PARIS (AP) — El técnico del Real Madrid, José Mourinho, dio por perdida la posibilidad de revalidar el título de la liga española, donde el Barcelona le sacó 15 puntos de ventaja.

En cambio, Mourinho prefiere que sus futbolistas se concentren en ganar la décima corona europea del club.

Tras iniciar la asegunda vuelta del campeonato doméstico, el Madrid está tercero en la tabla de posiciones, a 15 unidades del Barcelona. Atlético de Madrid marcha segundo.

"Es imposible ganar la liga este año. Tenemos que pensar en la Liga de Campeones y la Copa del Rey", declaró Mourinho el miércoles en una entrevista con la emisora francesa RMC.

Sin embargo, Mourinho le bajó las expectativas a los hinchas del Madrid antes de su duelo contra Manchester United por los octavos de final de la Liga de Campeones.

"Es un objetivo mío (ganar la Liga de Campeones), pero no creo que uno se deba obsesionar", advirtió. "Tienen que entender que otros equipos también pueden ganar la competencia. Ellos también tienen el potencial para hacerlo".

La mala temporada del Madrid aumentó las conjeturas de que el portugués podría irse del club al final de la temporada. Antes ha expresado su interés por regresar a Inglaterra, donde ganó dos títulos de la liga Premier con Chelsea, y también ha sido vinculado con el Paris Saint-Germain.

"Inglaterra, lo sé. Me gusta mucho y quiero volver un día. Sólo estuve tres años y medio con Chelsea, así que quiero volver y trabajar (en Inglaterra) algún día", señaló.

Aunque no cerró la puerta a la posibilidad de trabajar en Francia, sí se alejó de los rumores que lo vinculan con PSG, al menos por respeto al técnico Carlo Ancelotti y al director deportivo Leonardo.

"Soy amigo de Carlo y de Leonardo", indicó. "Quiero que sean exitosos y que todo les salga bien. Quiero que no necesiten otro técnico".

Mourinho, quien ganó la Liga de Campeones con el Porto en 2004, comentó que le gustaría volver a su país, pero sólo como entrenador de la selección.

"Me gustaría. No ahora, pero sí algún día", expresó. "Creo que la gente en Portugal también espera por ese momento. Quiero tener esa experiencia, un Mundial, una Eurocopa".

Mourinho reveló que estuvo a punto de tomar las riendas de la selección inglesa en dos ocasiones, pero descartó hacerlo.

"Casi en 2007, casi en 2008. Pero, para mí, sería Portugal", expresó. "Nunca puedes decir que nunca en el fútbol, pero creo que sería Portugal".
