OAKLAND, California, EE.UU. (AP) — El entrenador del Heat de Miami, Erik Spoelstra, y el presidente del equipo, Pat Riley, estuvieron un rato en el vestuario para entregarle a LeBron James el balón del encuentro del miércoles y reconocer su nuevo récord.

Los jugadores celebraron efusivamente en el centro del salón. Entonces, como Spoelstra dijo: "Todos han intentado algo contra él, un puñetazo, una mofa, un codo, cualquier cosa que pudieran hasta que él comenzó a responder".

Eso es una pequeña muestra del daño que James ha infligido en el resto de los equipos de la NBA durante la última década.

James se convirtió en el jugador más joven en la historia de la NBA que anota 20.000 puntos y también rebasó las 5.000 asistencias en una noche memorable en la que llevó al Heat a una victoria por 92-75 sobre los mermados Warriors de Golden State.

En un gira que ha tenido más malas noticias que buenas, James modificó en parte esa situación y abrió un nuevo capítulo en los libros de marcas. Finalizó con 25 puntos, 10 asistencias y siete rebotes en sólo 30 minutos para sumar otro momento histórico.

"Esto significa todo", dijo James. "Esto significa mucho. En primer lugar, como siempre digo, significa que he podido estar sano. Estar allí en la cancha y hacer lo que adoro hacer, me encanta el juego del basquetbol y trato de dar todo al juego. Y espero que me siga retribuyendo".

James estableció esos dos hitos antes del medio tiempo, ayudó a Miami a ponerse adelante por 34 puntos en el tercer periodo y permitió al entrenador Erik Spoelstra descansar a los titulares —ahora sin discusión— durante el último cuarto.

En Boston, el venezolano Greivis Vásquez anotó 15 puntos y capturó 11 rebotes, mientras que Austin Rivers ganó su primer juego de NBA contra su padre en la victoria de los Hornets de Nueva Orleáns por 90-78 sobre el entrenador en jefe Doc Rivers y los Celtics.

Vásquez acertó cinco de 16 tiros de campo y cuatro de cinco tiros libres en 40:57 minutos. Registró cuatro asistencias y dos faltas personales.

Nueva Orléans ganó seis de sus últimos siete juegos para salir del sótano de la Conferencia Oeste.

El menor de los Rivers encestó ocho puntos contra el equipo de su padre; ellos se convirtieron en el cuarto enfrentamiento padre-hijo en la historia de la NBA.

"Sabía que era un juego diferente y no pretendía fingir que no lo era, y creo que eso me ayudó", expresó el hijo. "Ahora que esto está despejado será mucho más fácil. Puedo salir sin preocuparme y pensar 'esto es raro'''.

Paul Pierce anotó 12 puntos y ganó 10 rebotes antes de salir del juego por acumulación de faltas en los últimos minutos. La racha de seis victorias de los Celtics llegó a su fin. Kevin Garnett anotó 15 unidades y Rajon Rondo dio 11 asistencias.

Por los Celtics, el brasileño Leandro Barbosa sumó siete puntos en 2:41 minutos.

Al-Farouq Aminu registró 18 unidades y nueve rebotes, y Anthony Davis tuvo 10 de cada uno por Nueva Orleáns.

"No voy a decir nada demasiado estúpido", añadió Austin Rivers. "Al final del día, él tiene muchas más credenciales, o como quieras llamarlo, que yo. Esto es sólo un pequeño momento para mí".

En el resto de la jornada, el Magic de Orlando venció 97-86 a los Pacers de Indiana; los Hawks de Atlanta vencieron 109-95 a los Nets de Brooklyn; los Bulls de Chicago 107-105 a los Raptors de Toronto; y el Thunder de Oklahoma City 117-97 a los Nuggets de Denver.

También, los Spurs de San Antonio derrotaron 103-82 a los Grizzlies de Memphis; los Mavericks de Dallas 105-100 a los Rockets de Houston; los Kings de Sacramento 95-94 a los Wizards de Washington; y los Cavaliers de Cleveland 93-88 a los Trail Blazers de Portland.
