Un error arbitral, que permitió el primer gol del partido, llevó al conjunto de las Águilas del América a encaminarse para su segunda victoria del Torneo Clausura 2013, luego de vencer a domicilio al equipo de Jaguares de Chiapas 2-0.

El equipo del timonel Miguel Herrera dejó ver lo que será su equipo cuando juegue de visitante, pues con un futbol ordenado fue muy superior a su rival, a pesar de que la primera anotación llegó de una falla arbitral, además, debutó su contratáción estrella Javier 'Maza' Rodríguez; mientras que el cuadro chiapaneco sumó su segunda derrota.

El primer tiempo empezó trabado en el medio campo, pero fue Chiapas el equipo que tomó la iniciativa; sin embargo, no llegó mucho, lo mejor que pudo hacer fue una jugada entre Miguel Martínez y George Corral al 7', en la que este último enfrentó a Muñoz, pero éste logró tapar el tiro.

América poco a poco le fue quitando la pelota al equipo local, por lo que empezó a llegar con peligro, su mejor asomo estuvo a cargo de Cristian Benítez, luego de un gran servicio de Oswaldo Martínez, que lo dejó solo frente al portero, mas Hernández con mucha categoría tapo el disparo.

El cuadro visitante se adueñó de la pelota, pero la zaga chiapaneca se ordenó bien y controló los ataques enemigos, por lo que se fue yendo el tiempo y en los minutos a finales ambos equipos se neutralizaron, por lo que se fueron al descanso con la igualada sin goles.

El segundo tiempo fue más intenso, pero fue Jaguares el que tuvo la primera llegada de peligro en los botines de Jorge Rodríguez al 55, luego de terminar una gran jugada de varios toques, en la que dentro del área grande por el lado izquierdo sacó escopetazo por encima del marco de Moisés Muñoz.

Pero el cuadro americanista respondió al 58 con el primer gol del partido, secundado éste por un terrible fuera de lugar que el silbante no quiso marcar, a pesar de que el asistente levantó la bandera. En la jugada Cristian Benítez al ver que el arbitró no marcó su posición adelantada, se metió al área y, en una serie de rebotes, Sambueza con zurdazo mandó al fondo.

Con la polémica anotación, la escuadra felina se cayó, por lo que al 68' esto fue bien aprovechado por el cuadro azulcrema con su segundo gol, en la que en un tiro de esquina Benítez aprovechó un rechace de Hernández a disparo del ingresado 'Maza' Rodríguez en su primera jugada para mandar al fondo.

Ya con una cómoda ventaja, América sobrellevó las acciones, por lo que estuvo más cerca del tercero, después de un impacto al poste de Jiménez, que Chiapas del segundo, por lo que el tiempo se fue diluyendo y el cuadro visitante sobrellevó las acciones para conseguir su segunda victoria del certamen.
