SAO PAULO, Brasil (AP) — Las prostitutas en la ciudad de Belo Horizonte recibirán lecciones de inglés con miras a la Copa Confederaciones de este año y la Copa Mundial de 2014 a disputarse en Brasil.

Cida Vieira, presidenta de la Asociación de Prostitutas de Belo Horizonte, informó el martes que 20 se han inscrito para las clases y calcula que por lo menos 300 de las 4.000 integrantes del grupo lo harán tarde o temprano. La asociación organiza las clases y busca profesores voluntarios.

"No creo que tendremos dificultades persuadiendo a profesores de inglés que nos den las clases de manera gratuita", dijo Vieira. "Ya contamos con varios psicólogos y doctores que nos ayudan como voluntarios".

Añadió que las clases comenzarán en marzo y tomarán hasta ocho meses.

"Es importante que las chicas sepan hablar inglés y así decirle a sus clientes el monto que cobran y que es lo que les excita", indicó Vieira.

"Y por los mismos motivos estamos también pensando en ofrecer clases gratis de francés e italiano", agregó.

La prostitución es legal en Brasil.

El Estadio Mineirao de Belo Horizonte será sede de tres partidos de la Confederaciones y de seis del Mundial.
