"Me sentí vacía, sola y abandonada". Así describe Eliza Morales (19) el momento en que su madre la llamó desde Tijuana, México, para decirle que había sido deportada. Tenía sólo 14 años y nada la pudo haber preparado para lo que vivió tras la separación.

Eliza esperó a su madre por dos días, angustiada, sin saber qué ocurrió. Un oficial la había detenido mientras conducía hacia su escuela en Los Ángeles. Su regreso a Estados Unidos fue imposible y su hija en tanto, pasó de un hogar a otro, entre familiares y amigos, en lo que define como el peor periodo de su vida.
