El conjunto de Chivas logró una importante victoria en el clásico tapatío que lo coloca en zona de calificación del Torneo Apertura 2012, luego de vencer 2-0 a un limitado conjunto del Atlas, que sigue sin poder ganar desde que Tomás Boy se hizo cargo del mismo.

Con el resultado, el cuadro de Chivas llegó a 20 puntos, empatando con la misma cantidad a otros dos equipos, pero gracias a su mejor diferencia de goles se colocó en la octava posición; mientras que Atlas se quedó con 11 unidades en el penúltimo lugar de la tabla general y con solo dos puntos de ventaja en la porcentual sobre el Querétaro.

EL JUEGO
Chivas fue el equipo que tomó la iniciativa desde el momento en que empezó a rodar el balón, pero sin poder profundizar los ataques; sin embargo, en la primera clara llegó el primer gol del partido en un cabezazo de Rafael Márquez Lugo, quien al 10' conectó un centro por derecha de Jesús Sánchez, colocando el balón lejos del joven portero Gallardo.

Atlas con la anotación en contra no logró reaccionar y su pobre futbol siguió sin poder inquietar a los rojiblancos, pero tampoco éstos lograron hilvanar buenos arribos con intención de aumentar su ventaja, por lo que también se conformaron con su gol sobrellevando el partido.

El cuadro rojinegro continuó perdido en el terreno de juego, por lo que al 40' un rebote de la zaga atlista lo tomó desde tres cuartos de cancha Marco Fabián, quien sin pensarlo mandó escopetazo y colocó la esférica al ángulo superior izquierdo del portero Gallardo, siendo un golazo para el futbolista rojiblanco.

Chivas se adueñó del partido, pero en un exceso de confianza dejó que Atlas tuviera su primera llegada seria de peligro al minuto 43, donde Jahir Barraza se fue por el costado derecho solo ante Luis Ernesto Michel, pero su disparo se lo estrelló en la humanidad de éste, desperdiciando una gran oportunidad.

Al regresar del descanso la escuadra rojiblanca continuó siendo mejor, incluso las cosas se pudieron haber puesto peor para el Atlas, luego de que el silbante le perdonó la tarjeta roja a Hugo Rodríguez, quien golpeó a un rival sin que hubiera pelota de por medio.

Atlas buscó meterse al partido con una llegada de Héctor Mancilla, que incluso terminó en gol, pero fue anulado por claro fuera de lugar; sin embargo, Guadalajara le respondió con tiro de Rafael Márquez de botepronto, fuera del área grande, que pasó cerca de la portería de Gallardo.

El conjunto del timonel John Van´t Schip, conforme pasó el tiempo, empezó a controlar el partido, ya que además de tener la pizarra a su favor, se quedó con un hombre más en el terreno de juego, luego de la expulsión de Hugo Rodríguez por doble tarjeta amarilla.

Pero todavía así, Atlas tuvo en los botines del ingresado Matías Vuoso el primero para su equipo al 82', luego de recibir un pase largo que lo dejó solo frente a Michel, pero al tratar de bombearle la pelota, el cancerbero logró con un gran brinco quedarse con la misma.

Chivas al final se vio disfuncional y le permitió tener más tiempo al Atlas el balón, pero el equipo rojinegro careció de idea para por lo menos poder descontar, así que de este modo quedó sentenciado el marcador a favor de los locales.
