A cuatro días de que sufriera la novena derrota en 19 años de carrera profesional y tras 61 peleas, el mexicano Erik Morales no sabe si regresará a los encordados para poner un punto final a su trayectoria o dejará que termine con un nocaut en cuarto round.

En entrevista con HuffPost Voces, el tijuanense de 36 años habló sobre su derrota ante el campeón Superligero del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo y Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, el boricua Danny García, y el sentimiento que quedó tras el resultado.

"Los planes no salieron. Siempre dije que si pasaba lo peor, siempre estaba la posibilidad de regresar a Tijuana a pelear por última vez. Dije que si alguien pasaba por encima de mi lo haría y me pasaron por encima. Descansaré y tomaré una decisión tiempo antes de que cumpla 20 años como profesional (en marzo)", dijo el peleador, quien no ocultó su tristeza.

Morales, peleador mexicano que logró conquistar cuatro títulos mundiales en igual número de divisores, aseguró que no ha tenido la oportunidad de ver su pelea con Danny García, pero que ya tuvo un chequeo médico para descartar lesiones.

"Es triste perder. Es triste. Pero fue mas aparatoso de lo que fue. Fue un golpe durante un intercambio de golpes. De tu a tu. Si giré de esa forma fue porque también yo traía fuerza a la hora de tirar la izquierda. El vuelo me hizo dar la vuelta. Aún así me hicieron un scan y estoy bien", explicó el mexicano, quien terminó la contienda tras un gancho en el cuarto round cayó desmadejado a la lona con medio cuerpo fuera del ring.

Morales dice que termina su carrera profesional con gusto pues logró muchos de los objetivos que se planteo:

"Nunca me quedé en el hubiera. Me gusta saber que siempre luché y que no me quedé con ganas de hacer nada. Lo intenté y no fue posible, eso me hace estar tranquilo... Simplemente quedó claro que hay que darle la oportunidad a los nuevos", dijo el ex campeón

Respecto a su legado, Morales lo calificó como impresionante y considera que será complicado que alguien ocupe su lugar.

"Difícilmente alguien ocupará mi lugar. Siempre hay un espacio nuevo para personas nuevas. Siempre habrá figuras nuevas en el boxeo. Cada uno de nosotros tiene un lugar y una presencia intacta. Espacios siempre habrá", dijo el 'Terrible'.

"No pasa anda. Estoy contento de haberlo intentado, de estar ahí. Estoy contento de haber tenido la oportunidad de buscar el campeonato del mundo por una última vez", finalizó.
