En el video, en blanco y negro, y sin audio, la adolescente narra cómo comenzó el problema: “Cuando estaba en séptimo grado, me veía con mis amigos a través de una webcam”. En las siguientes tarjetas revela que le decían que era hermosa, impactante, perfecta. “Querían que les mostrara mis senos. Así lo hice un año más tarde”, se leía.
Un día, Amanda recibió un mensaje de un desconocido, quien le dijo que si no enseñaba más partes de su cuerpo, publicaría las fotos que le había tomado. “Sabía mi dirección, quiénes eran mis familiares, amigos, nombres…”.
“Luego me enfermé gravemente: sufría ansiedad, una fuerte depresión y ataques de pánico. Empecé a consumir alcohol y drogas”, señaló.

Según contó, todos sus amigos le dieron la espalda y comenzó a ser insultada y humillada en internet. El bullying continuó a pesar de que Amanda se cambió de escuela, pero se agravó cuando flirteó con un joven que tenía novia. Un grupo de adolescentes, incluido el propio joven, la golpeó y grabó la paliza.
La última tarjeta simplemente decía: “No tengo a nadie. Necesito a alguien. Mi nombre es Amanda Todd”. El cuerpo de Amanda fu encontrado el pasado 10 de octubre en su casa. Se había quitado la vida.
Anonymous dice haber encontrado al acosador
Anonymous, el conocido grupo de piratas informáticos, asegura haber encontrado un vínculo entre Amanda Todd y un presunto acosador, que vive en la ciudad de Nueva Westminster de la provincia canadiense de Columbia Británica.
El grupo de hackers reveló que se trata de un ex empleado de Facebook, de 32 años, que accedió con engaños a la estudiante cuando ella era una niña de 12 años, según explicó un miembro de Anonymous.
Mientras tanto, múltiples páginas han sido creadas en Facebook para rendir tributo a Amanda Todd.
