El divorcio entre Carlos Vela y la selección mexicana es cada vez más patente. Este inicio de semana el delantero de la Real Sociedad aseguró no ser feliz en México, ni sentirse querido. Horas más tarde, el entrenador del 'Tri', José Manuel de la Torre, afirmó que no tiene nivel para integrar al equipo.

En declaraciones al diario Mundo Deportivo, Vela manifestó que se ha creado una mala imagen de él en su país, una que no corresponde a la realidad.

"En México tienen una imagen de mí que no es real. Han creado una persona que no soy. La gente en México que no me conoce se cree que soy lo peor La gente que me conoce sabe que no es verdad. Soy totalmente diferente a esa imagen. Después de todo lo malo que me ha pasado, no puedo abrirme, no puedo ser yo realmente", expresó.

El ariete saltó a la fama en 2005, cuando terminó como campeón mundial y líder goleador del Mundial Sub 17 de Perú. Después de ese éxito, su relación con la selección azteca ha sido amarga, pues está llena de desplantes e indisciplinas que le han costado sanciones.

La última vez que Vela fue convocado, rechazó la invitación a los Juegos Olímpicos 2012, por hacer pretemporada con su equipo.

A pregunta expresa durante la última conferencia de prensa, previo al partido eliminatorio ante El Salvador en Torreón, 'Chepo' de la Torre negó que el nativo de Quintana Roo esté vetado, pero aclaró que no tiene el nivel para ser llamado en este momento.

"Simplemente (no está convocado) porque el poder de decisión lo tengo yo y no considero ahorita que esté en las mejores condiciones para estar. Todos los jugadores tienen las puertas abiertas, lo dije desde el primer día y lo reitero, yo no les quito la oportunidad absolutamente a nadie, al contrario, con eso fomento que la competencia sea entre todos", aclaró.

Después de un largo peregrinar por varios clubes del Viejo Continente, Vela recaló en San Sebastián, donde ha logrado posicionarse con un pilar ofensivo del club.
