SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Roberto Kelly, coach de primera base de los Gigantes de San Francisco, tuvo que ser llevado a un hospital el sábado tras ser impactado en la cabeza por una pelota conectada por Buster Posey cuando se encontraba de pie cerca de la segunda base durante una práctica de bateo.

Kelly salió del terreno con la ayuda de empleados de los Gigantes y fue retirado en camilla del estadio.

Los Gigantes se entrenaron el sábado en su estadio AT&T Park, un día antes del arranque de la serie de campeonato de la Liga Nacional ante los Cardenales de San Luis.

Kelly, de 48 años, ha sido el coach de la inicial de los Gigantes desde 2008. El panameño jugó con ocho equipos en una trayectoria de 14 campañas en las mayores. Bateó para .290 de por vida con 124 jonrones y 585 empujadas. Como jardinero, Kelly pasó la mayor parte de su carrera con los Yanquis de Nueva York entre 1987-92 y luego otra vez en 2000.
