NUEVA YORK (AP) — El técnico de los juveniles del club de fútbol neoyorquino Red Bulls fue asesinado a puñaladas, informó la policía.

Las autoridades dijeron que Michael Jones, un inglés de 25 años, murió al recibir puñaladas en el cuello y el pecho y que su agresor le rebanó una oreja en un incidente ocurrido aproximadamente a las cuatro y media de la madrugada del domingo en la zona de Union Square, cerca del Greenwich Village.

La policía dijo que Jones discutió con alguien antes de ser atacado. No estaba claro si conocía a esa persona.

Los Red Bulls dijeron en un comunicado que Jones fue "un técnico fantástico, que adoraba el fútbol".
