El conjunto de Barcelona vio interrumpido su paso perfecto de victorias en la Liga BBVA 2012, tras empatar a dos goles con su acérrimo rival Real Madrid, siendo las estrellas de los dos equipos, Lionel Messi y Cristiano Ronaldo, respectivamente, sus mejores jugadores, luego de conseguir todas las anotaciones del partido.

Desde los primeros minutos el futbol del cuadro merengue sorprendió a su rival, pues no lo dejó llegar a su marco; sin embargo, fue la escuadra madridista la que arribó con peligro, las dos primeras estuvieron a cargo mediante un disparo de Benzema y un cabezazo de Sergio Ramos.

Cuando Barcelona tuvo su primer asomo de peligro en los botines de Iniesta hasta el minuto 20, Real Madrid sorprendió con el primer gol del partido, luego de que al 22' Benzema cedió la esférica para Ronaldo, quien por el lado izquierdo sacó zurdazo raso que no pudo detener Valdés.

La escuadra visitante siguió siendo mejor, y en los botines de Benzema y Di María tuvo el segundo, luego de que el delantero francés estrelló el balón en el poste y en el contrarremate el argentino increíblemente mandó en balón por un lado.

Sin embargo, Barcelona pudo reaccionar con el gol de la igualada al minuto 31 en los botines de Lionel Messi, luego de aprovechar una mala salida de Pepe en el área chica, en donde le dejó el balón a modo al argentino y con fuerte disparo mandó al fondo.

El partido se empezó a pelear en el medio campo, por lo que la pizarra ya no se movió en el primer tiempo.

Para el segundo, ambos equipos salieron con mucha intensidad, pero el juego se volvió a centralizar en el medio campo; sin embargo, Barcelona poco a poco se adueñó del esférico y comenzó a echar a su rival a su territorio.

Pero fue hasta el minuto 61 que logró reflejar ese dominio en el marcador mediante un golazo de Lionel Messi, quien fuera del área cobró un tiro libre de zurda, donde colocó la esférica al ángulo superior izquierdo del portero Casillas, quien por más que se estiró no pudo alcanzar el esférico.

Barcelona tuvo en su poder al Real Madrid, pero un descuido de su zaga le costó el gol del empate cinco minutos después (66), luego de que Ozil la tomó mal parada para servir para Ronaldo, quien en un mano a mano contra Valdés no tuvo problemas para vencerlo con fuerte disparo.

A partir del gol del empate fue un ir y venir en ambas porterías, pero fue el Barcelona el equipo que estuvo más cerca del tercero, pues al minuto 88, por medio de Xavi Hernández, estrelló un balón en el poste superior con tiro fuera del área grande.

Barcelona terminó encima de su rival, pero el marcador quedó sentenciado con la igualada a dos.

Con esta pizarra, el equipo culé mantuvo su ventaja de ocho puntos sobre la escuadra merengue en la tabla general, luego de llegar a 19 unidades por 11 de la madridista.
