Los Angeles (Notimex).- La plataforma New Futuro, en la que participan más de 300 organizaciones, busca que hispanos se superen y con ello revertir ser la minoría más grande de segunda clase, dijo Martín Castro, su presidente y co-fundador.
Entrevistado por Notimex, Castro, hijo y nieto de inmigrantes mexicanos, compartió el lanzamiento de New Futuro para apoyar a estudiantes hispanos. “La educación es el pase que nos asegura el camino exitoso”, dijo.
“Mi más grande aspiración y por el que me involucre en este proyecto es impulsar a la comunidad hispana aproveche la oportunidad, se informe y obtenga recursos para su sueño”, destacó.
“Queremos asegurarnos que los hispanos, que son la minoría más grande en este país logren su sueño americano basados en la educación y llevar a los estudiantes hispanos a la universidad y más lejos. Con acciones de alcance nacional, se espera llegar a más de 15 millones de latinos en el 2012”, subrayó.
New Futuro presentará el próximo fin de semana su primer taller: “Camino a la Universidad”, en el Centro de Convenciones de la ciudad de Pasadena, lo que más adelante se extenderá a otras ciudades del país.
Este programa que se promueve a través del portal bilingüe www.NewFuturo.com, buscará ofrecer la más grande colección de becas para hispanos del país, aseguró Castro.
Sondeos recientes nos han señalado que los latinos son los más desprotegidos al ser los menos informados cuando 80 por ciento de los consultados han respondido que no saben como financiar sus estudios, dijo.
Con el programa y los talleres informativos se vinculan familias y estudiantes con individuos, organizaciones y compañías que los pueden ayudar, anotó.
Adelantó que en cada taller se ofrecerán mil dólares en becas así como en las ferias educativas que serán más grandes.
Castro, es abogado, empresario y es el primer latino que ocupa el cargo de presidente de la Comisión de Derechos Civiles de Estados Unidos designado por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama.
Compartió que este año, además de 20 talleres en el país, se celebrarán ferias educativas en Nueva York, los Angeles, Houston, Chicago y Miami.
Indicó que la meta del programa también contempla expandirlo y ofrecer la información en naciones como México y Costa Rica.
En NewFuturo participan más de 300 organizaciones educativas, sin fines de lucro, empresariales, comunitarias y de gobierno.
