CARACAS (AP) — El presidente Hugo Chávez alcanzó en septiembre una intención de voto de 49.4 por ciento, y supera por 10 puntos porcentuales a su adversario, Henrique Capriles, a doce días de las elecciones presidenciales, indica un estudio difundido el martes por una de las principales encuestadoras locales.

Según el sondeo de Datanálisis, el candidato Capriles alcanzaría el 39 por ciento de las preferencias para los comicios del 7 de octubre, dijo Luis Vicente León, directivo de la firma, durante un foro.

La encuesta se realizó del 25 de agosto al 5 de septiembre entre 1.600 personas y tiene un margen de error de 2.4 por ciento. El analista no precisó la cifra de indeciso, y solo informó que 21.5 por ciento de los encuestados "no respondió".

León destacó que se ha estrechado el margen entre Chávez y Capriles con la subida de unos nueve puntos del candidato opositor en relación con la encuesta de junio, y al estancamiento de Chávez, quien solo subió unos tres puntos en tres meses. Para junio pasado Chávez tenía una intención de voto de 46.1 por ciento, mientras que Capriles 30.8 por ciento.

"El impacto (de la campaña) ha sido estelar", dijo el analista al evaluar los beneficios que ha logrado Capriles por la campaña cara a cara que ha desarrollado en los últimos meses que ha implicado la visita a unas 260 ciudades y pueblos del país.


Al referirse al desempeño de Chávez en la campaña, León reconoció que es "obvio el deterioro" en comparación con la activa campaña que desplegó el mandatario en los comicios del 2006. El directivo de la encuestadora dijo que era evidente que el cáncer que enfrentó el gobernante, de 58 años, entre junio del 2011 y comienzos de este año afectó el desarrollo de su campaña que se ha centrado en "apariciones controladas" en unas 18 ciudades, largos discursos trasmitidos en cadenas de radio y televisión, junto a una intensa promoción mediática.


León descartó que estos resultados puedan ser definitorios para las elecciones que están pautadas para el 7 de octubre debido a que aun está en desarrollo la campaña y "pueden ocurrir cambios", pero reconoció que por primera vez Chávez, tras casi 14 años en el gobierno, enfrentará a un fuerte rival debido a que es el que más se le ha acercado en las encuestas.


La campaña electoral comenzó formalmente en julio y se extenderá hasta la primera semana de octubre.
