Radio Disney pondrá su grano de arena en el Mes de la Herencia Hispana para exaltar los logros y la imagen de latinos destacados en las artes, los deportes y la historia.

"Es una oportunidad para que padres e hijos, para que las familias conversen no solo de la herencia hispana, sino de su propia cultura, de dónde vienen", dijo a Huff Post Voces Ernest "Ernie D" Martínez, director creativo y locutor de la estación infantil basada en Burbank.

En lo que ya es ahora una tradición que comenzó hace varios años, Radio Disney transmitirá del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre spots de un minuto de duración en los que se dará una descripción de algún latino destacado. Los pequeños segmentos se podrán escuchar durante todo el día intercalados en la programación.

Este año, sin embargo, no sólo se incluyeron personalidades de la farándula, sino lo que la estación llama "Héroes de los deportes" y "Héroes de la historia". Así, además de figuras como las cantantes Jennifer López y Christina Aguilera, y actrices como Selena Gómez y Ryan Ochoa, se escucharán perfiles de nombres destacados de los deportes, como Mark Sánchez, jugador de los Jets de Nueva York, y Danell Leyva, miembro del equipo de gimnasia de Estados Unidos.

"Esta es la primera vez que sacamos de contexto la historia para resaltar a [el alcalde de Los Ángeles] Antonio Villaraigosa y [a la jueza de la Suprema Corte de Justicia] Sonia Sotomayor, y lo extendemos hacia el mundo del deporte y las artes", dijo el DJ, quien jugó un papel activo en la elección de las personalidades que se incluyeron en esta edición.

En algunos casos se trata de breves descripciones de la vida y obra de latinos destacados, pero en otras se incluyen extractos de entrevistas previas que Martínez hizo a alguna celebridad.

Además de los nombres mencionados, se incluyen spots sobre artistas como los actores Raini Rodríguez, Bella Thorne y Adam Irigoyen. En el rubro de los deportes se perfilará a Albert Pujols, del equipo de beisbol Angels y a Oscar de la Hoya, boxeador y empresario.

En la división de "Héroes de la historia", la estación presentará semblanzas de la astronauta Ellen Ochoa, el científico ganador de un Premio Nobel, Mario Molina, el autor Miguel de Cervantes y el pintor y escultor Salvador Dalí.

"Los latinos representan una gran audiencia para nosotros", dijo el DJ en relación con el motivo que tiene Radio Disney en participar en el Mes de la Herencia Hispana.

La estación se escucha en todos los mercados con alta concentración de hispanos, como las principales ciudades de Florida, Texas, California, Illinois y Arizona. En Los Ángeles, sin embargo, se ubica la mayor audiencia de la emisora, que calcula que un tercio de su público es hispano.
