Un agónico gol de Roberto Soldado le dio a el actual campeón del mundo, España, su primer triunfo sobre Georgia en las eliminatorias europeas al Mundial de Brasil 2014.

Con la victoria, la escuadra ibérica sumó sus primeros tres puntos en el Grupo 9, sector que comparte con Francia, Bielorrusia, Finlandia y Georgia.

EL JUEGO
El primer tiempo se jugó de un solo lado, España borró por completo a su rival, pues desde que empezó a rodar el balón lo echó a su terreno de juego; sin embargo, el combinado del timonel Vicente del Bosque no tuvo la capacidad para conseguir la anotación, a pesar de su dominio total.

El primer aviso de peligro del cuadro español llegó hasta el minuto 10 en un cabezazo de Sergio Ramos, quien en un tiro de esquina aprovechó su estatura y mandó el balón directamente a las manos del portero Loria.

España siguió teniendo la posesión de la esférica, y al ver que el equipo georgiano tenía a todos sus hombres atrás, buscó el disparo de media distancia, por lo que Busquets, Iniesta y Silva fueron los primeros que lo intentaron, siendo el de este último el más peligroso, pues al 27 estremeció el poste del arquero.

Y casi al finalizar la primera mitad, el equipo ibérico tuvo todo para abrir el marcador en un par de jugadas: la primera de ellas fue un disparo de Xavi Hernández fuera del área que el portero desvió increíblemente (43') y, la segunda, un mano a mano entre Soldado y el arquero, en la que este último logró que el atacante ibérico le estrellara la pelota en su humanidad.

Para la parte complementaria, la selección de Georgia se quitó el miedo para ir al ataque y adelantó líneas, por lo que rápidamente generó peligro al 52', luego de que Alexander Amisulashvili en una buena jugada dentro del área por el lado derecho mandó zurdazo y el balón se estrelló en el poste inferior derecho de Casillas.

España hizo cambios para darle otra cara a su escuadra y se volvió a hacer del esférico; sin embargo, continuó sin tener profundidad, lo más peligroso que consiguió fueron disparos de Jordi Alba y Pedro, los cuales no lograron llegar a su objetivo.

El equipo de Del Bosque nunca bajó los brazos y por fin al minuto 86 tuvo su recompensa con el gol de Roberto Soldado, quien no tuvo problemas para rematar un centro en corto por derecha del recién ingresado Cesc Fábregas, y de este modo ponerle número a la pizarra.

Todavía Georgia tuvo en tiempo de compensación el gol de la igualada (93'), pero Sergio Ramos en una gran barrida, a disparo de Irakli Sirbiladze dentro del área, salvó a su selección, por lo que el juego quedó sentenciado a favor de su escuadra.
