En el servicio, que duró casi cuatro horas, celebraron la vida del actor de "The Green Mile" y otra decena de éxitos, con discursos emotivos, fotos del siempre sonriente actor y todo acompañado de un coro de gospel. La prometida del famoso, Omarosa Manigault, parecía inconsolable, rodeada de familiares y amigos.
Según información de la agencia AP, Hanks y Leno compartieron historias de Duncan. Peete habló de cómo lo conoció cuando todavía trabajaba como guardaespaldas para estrellas como Will Smith. Devine comentó sobre cómo "Big Mike" hacía de todo para conseguir que alguien se riera.
Stevie Wonder apareció vía video, tocando el piano y cantando los versos de la canción "As", para el hombre que definía como el "gentil gigante".
Tom Hanks imitó al actor de casi dos metros, con su voz profunda, recordando una anécdota sobre cómo su mamá no lo dejó unirse a una pandilla.

El conductor Jay Leno comentó que le encantaba la actitud siempre positiva del actor y su falta de cinismo. "Tan sólo ver un corazón tan puro como el suyo y de amabilidad tan pura, y ver que se ha ido tan pronto. No hay palabras más tristes", declaró, con voz entrecortada.
Frank Darabont, director de "The Green Mile" llamó a Duncan "un guerrero" y "la más gentil de las almas". "Nadie tenía un espíritu tan positivo como lo tuvo Michael Clarke Duncan", dijo.
Darabont también leyó una carta de Stephen King, autor de "The Green Mile". "Nadie le ha hecho tanta justicia a un personaje que haya escrito yo como lo hizo Michael", anotó King.
El Reverendo Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, quien entregó el sermón, cerró diciéndole a Omarosa: "No te preocupes, él ya está en el cielo".
