SANTIAGO DE CHILE (AP) — Con una gran demostración de contundencia y buen juego, Colombia derrotó el martes 3-1 a domicilio a Chile y se encaramó al tope de las eliminatorias sudamericanas para al Mundial 2014.

El equipo colombiano supo darle la vuelta al marcador tras encontrarse en desventaja. Goles de James Rodríguez, Radamel Falcao y Teófilo Gutiérrez le dieron la victoria a los dirigidos por el técnico argentino José Pekerman.

Matías Fernández puso en ventaja a Chile a los 41 minutos con un violento disparo de derecha desde unos 22 metros.

La ventaja local llegó cuando el conjunto conducido por el entrenador argentino Claudio Borghi parecía desorientado por el asedio ofensivo de Colombia.

Además, Chile jugaba con 10 hombres por la expulsión de Gary Medel desde los 34 por propinarle un manotazo a Luis Amaranto Perea. El árbitro peruano Víctor Carrillo no advirtió la falta, pero fue alertado por uno de sus asistentes.

Fernández recuperó un balón a la entrada del área, dio una media vuelta y sacó un derechazo furibundo arrastrado, que entró junto al poste derecho del arco defendido por David Ospina.

Colombia desató su furia goleadora tras el descanso.

Rodríguez empató a los 58 de tiro libre y Falcao anotó el segundo a los 73 tras recibir un pase en profundidad. Gutiérrez hizo el tercero tres minutos más tarde tras pase de Falcao.

"Un trabajo excelente de todo el equipo, despues de ir abajo en el marcador tuvimos madurez y la jerarquía para en el segundo tiempo darle vuelta al resultado", declaró Falcao. "Merecimos la victoria".

Colombia sumó 13 puntos, igual que Argentina, que jugaba más tarde con Perú en Lima.

Chile se estancó con 12, igual que Ecuador, que el mismo martes visitaba a Uruguay.

A lo largo del partido, Colombia dominó y atacó más, exigiendo varias intervenciones del arquero local Claudio Bravo.

Aún antes de quedar en inferioridad numérica, la presión colombiana obligó a Chile a jugar largos pasajes de contragolpe.

Pero después de ponerse en ventaja, Chile generó un par de buenas ocasiones a través de Fernández, Mauricio Isla y Alexis Sánchez.

Colombia jugó los últimos cinco minutos con 10 hombres por la expulsión de Abel Aguilar.

"Es nuestra segunda victoria consecutiva, es magnífico. Sabíamos que algo así podía suceder, (porque) el trabajo de todo el equipo fue muy bueno", dijo Falcao al término del encuentro.

Bravo, el capitán del equipo chileno, dijo que el resultado es "muy doloroso".

"Es una derrota muy dura en nuestra casa...No supimos manejar el trámite del partido, duele caer así", añadió el portero.
