La selección mexicana de futbol, que es comandada por el timonel José Manuel de la Torre, buscará asegurar en el mismo estadio Azteca su pase al hexagonal final, luego de medirse en la cuarta fecha de la tercera ronda -de la eliminatoria de la Concacaf rumbo a Brasil 2014- al conjunto de Costa Rica, que se encuentra obligado a rescatar un resultado positivo de tierras aztecas.

Y por lo mostrado por ambos conjuntos en su último juego, en donde la escuadra mexicana sin emplearse mucho a fondo derrotó al cuadro tico en San José, el equipo de México sale como amplio favorito para agenciarse otros tres puntos, que lo lleven a mantener de este modo su paso perfecto en la eliminatoria.

Así que a falta de tres partidos para que termine esta penúltima ronda, el equipo de México tiene hasta el momento nueve unidades, seguido precisamente por el cuadro tico con cuatro, El Salvador con dos puntos y en el fondo Guyana con uno solo.

Pese a las críticas que le llovieron al cuadro mexicano en su debut contra Guyana, los pupilos de José Manuel de la Torre han logrado recomponer el camino con buen futbol, por lo que poco a poco han empezado a recobrar la etiqueta de 'gigantes del área', que se pensaba ya estaba olvidada para este conjunto.

Incluso uno de sus jugadores estrella, el medallista olímpico José de Jesús Corona, habló de la seriedad que deberá tener su equipo para este nuevo compromiso ante Costa Rica: "Tendremos que mostrar la misma seguridad y el control del balón que tuvimos en San José, ya que eso será básico contra un equipo que va a querer quitarnos por lo menos un punto por su actual situación".

Por su parte, el equipo de Costa Rica ya tiene el honor de haberle ganado al equipo mexicano en el estadio Azteca en una eliminatoria; sin embargo, las circunstancias que rodean este nuevo enfrentamiento son distintas, pues una derrota para ellos les podría quitar muchas posibilidades de ir en busca de unos de los dos boletos para el hexagonal final.

Así lo hizo saber su delantero Christian Bolaños, quien dijo que "ya alguna vez se pudo hacer, por lo que no lo vemos como un imposible. Si corregimos lo que hicimos en el primer partido, podremos tener mejor suerte. Quiero pensar que podemos dar un gran partido en México y ganar puntos".
