El judoka mexicano Eduardo Ávila Sánchez consiguió este viernes la medalla de bronce en judo, categoría de 73 kilogramos para exponentes débiles visuales, por lo que la expedición azteca en los Juegos Paralímpicos de Londres 2012.

Previamente, Ávila Sánchez cayó ante el ucraniano Dmytro Solovey, por lo que no pudo acceder a la gran final.

Esta es la segunda presea paralímpica para México. El mexicano fue oro en los pasados Juegos de Beijing 2008 y ganó el campeonato en los Juegos Parapanamericanos de Río de Janeiro 2007 y Guadalajara 2011.

La tarde del jueves, el nadador mexicano Arnulfo Castorena consiguió la primera medalla para México en los Juegos Paralímpicos de Londres 2012 al colgarse la plata en natación 50 metros pecho.

Castorena cronometró 58.23 segundos, con lo que se hizo del segundo lugar, mientras que el chino Jianping Du se llevó el oro con 57.50 segundos; el bronce fue para el ucraniano Dmytro Vynohradets (58.51).
