Esta jornada olímpica previa a la clausura de los Juegos Olímpicos 2012 estuvo marcada por el poderío latino. La gloria latina la empezamos a vivir con el oro olímpico de la selección mexicana de fútbol quien venció y dejó con la plata a la también latina escuadra de Brasil, fue, lo que llamamos, un 'Sábado de Gloria' latina.

Lo dorado: El estadounidense David Boudia se coronó campeón de clavados de 10 metros en la rama varonil de Londres 2012. En esta misma competencia, el mexicano Ivan García quedó séptimo.

En otra rama, el boxeo, el cubano Roniel Iglesias ganó el oro de los superligeros de Londres 2012. Otra hazaña dorada es la que Estados Unidos y España repetirán en la gran final del básquetbol.

Lo histórico: Usain Bolt y todo Jamaica sumaron otra medalla de oro olímpica, la sexta para 'El Relámpago' en dos juegos olímpicos, en los relevos 4x100 para varones.

Lo sorprendente: Keshorn Walcott dio el sábado a Trinidad y Tobago su primer título olímpico en el atletismo de campo, tras imponerse sorpresivamente en la final de jabalina.

Lo plateado: Jaime Espinal, luchador de estilo libre, gana medalla de plata para Puerto Rico en jornada histórica para los latinos.

En esta misma jornada, el brasileño Esquiva se llevó la plata, la primera de ese color para su país en plata en la categoría de 75 kilogramos.

Lo aplaudible: La mexicana María del Rosario Espinoza, quien fuera campeona olímpica en la categoría de 67 kilogramos en Beijing 2008, se llevó la medalla de bronce al derrotar a la cubana Glenhis Hernández, en la llave del repechaje. En un combate muy reñido que quedó 4-1 favor a la mexicana, Espinoza sumó su segunda medalla olímpica en su carrera.

Lo bronceado: En taekwondo, el cubano Robelis Despaigne ganó el bronce en la división de +80 kilogramos del torneo.

La revancha: La rusa Mariya Savinova se proclamó el sábado campeona olímpica de los 800 metros, en los que la sudafricana Caster Semenya, la campeona tan cuestionada y humillada por considerarla un hombre cuando se convirtiera en oro en el Mundial de Berlín e incluso suspendida por un año, fue plata olímpica para Sudáfrica.

Lo decepcionante: Los medios brasileños e internacionales consideran que Neymar quedó a deber en los Juegos Olímpicos 2012.
