WEMBLEY, Inglaterra (AP) — Oribe Peralta se encargó que en México no se echara de menos a Javier Hernández en Londres.

El delantero del Santos Lugana desbordó presencia en la cancha e hizo cuatro goles, incluyendo dos en la final, para la inédita coronación dorada de México en el fútbol de los Juegos Olímpicos.

Como fue su tónica durante gran parte del torneo, Peralta no desaprovechó en la final ninguna oportunidad de anotar.

Y la primera llegó de entrada, exactamente a los 28 segundos. Tras una pelota que perdió infantilmente la zaga de Brasil, Peralta encaró al arco y venció al portero Gabriel. Fue un gol que le cayó como un tanque de agua helada a los brasileños.

A los 74, marcó el segundo de cabeza tras un tiro libre de Marco Fabián.

"Hoy es un día histórico", declaró Peralta. "Es una forma de agradecerle a todos los que creyeron en nosotros".

Los espectadores en el estadio Wembley despidieron con una fuerte ovación a Peralta cuando fue cambiado a seis minutos del final del encuentro.

Peralta no sólo metió los dos goles más importantes de su vida el sábado, sino que fue todo un pulmón y no vaciló en marcar la salida del rival.

El técnico Luis Fernando Tena apostó a Peralta desde mucho antes de los Juegos Olímpicos, y el delantero no le quedó mal.

Tena le confió gran parte de la responsabilidad en el ataque, después de que no pudo contar con el "Chicharito" Hernández en el torneo. El estelar delantero mexicano no recibió permiso de su club Manchester United para que disputase el certamen.

Después de un debut para el olvido en que no tuvo ninguna chance de gol en el empate sin goles ante Corea del Sur, Peralta comenzó a tejer su página brillante y decisiva en Londres en los siguientes compromisos.

Participó en la victoria de México sobre Gabón 2-0 en el siguiente partido, con una asistencia al primer tanto de Giovani Dos Santos. Luego recibió la falta en el área que generó el penal, que Dos Santos convirtió.

En el tercero y último choque de la ronda preliminar, marcó la primera diana del triunfo por 2-0 sobre Suiza que le aseguró a México el primer lugar de su llave y evitara así eventuales cruces con Gran Bretaña y Brasil.

Y en el encuentro de semis contra Japón, Peralta gritó uno de los tres goles con que México le ganó a Japón 3-1 y avanzó a la final.

Fue uno de los tres jugadores mayores de 23 años en los que apostó Tena para Londres. Los otros fueron el portero Jesús Corona y el volante de contención Carlos Salcido.

El "Cepillo" Peralta, como lo apodan popularmente, integró el equipo de Tena que ganó el año pasado el oro en el fútbol de los Juegos Panamericanos en Guadalajara y en el cual el ariete se consagró como máximo cañonero con seis tantos.

Asimismo, se destacó con su club Santos en la obtención del torneo mexicano Clausura de 2012.

Este ariete de 1,76 metros de altura también llama la atención porque no le gusta hablar de si mismo, ni siquiera cuando remece las redes.

"No fue mi partido, fue de todos", afirmó Peralta, quien llevaba un balón firmado por sus compañeros. "Somos once contra once y la verdad que los muchachos se entregaron al máximo por cada pelota, por cada jugada ... es una recompensa para todos".

El técnico mexicano Luis Fernando Tena consideró que los tres refuerzos fueron de "gran ayuda" en la consagración olímpica.

Con su fenomenal actuación en Londres también aseguró probablemente su presencia en la selección absoluta que disputa las eliminatorias al Mundial Brasil 2014.

No se extrañen, entonces, ver a Peralta haciendo dupla con el "Chicharito" Hernández.
