LONDRES (AP) — Colombia logró en cinco minutos en bicicrós lo que nunca había conseguido en su historia olímpica.

Mariana Pajón ganó la medalla de oro en la rama de mujeres y Carlos Oquendo se colgó el bronce entre los hombres para coronar la jornada más exitosa de Colombia en unos Juegos Olímpicos.

Pajón, de paso, cosechó apenas el segundo oro colombiano en unos Juegos, para unirse a la exclusiva lista en la que sólo la acompaña la pesista María Isabel Urrutia (Sydney 2000).

Estos son de lejos los juegos olímpicos más exitosos de la historia para Colombia, que ya tiene una medalla de oro, tres platas y cuatro bronces.

El mejor total previo de Colombia eran las tres medallas —una plata y dos bronces— logradas en 1972 en Munich.
