LONDRES (AP) — Tranquilo, Usain Bolt. Nadie puede negarte el título de leyenda olímpica.

Cansado de correr solo, el hombre más rápido del planeta se ensañó ahora con la historia, al conseguir el jueves algo que ni siquiera el mismísimo Carl Lewis logró: el doblete de los 100 y 200 metros en dos Juegos Olímpicos consecutivos.

No hubo récord mundial de los 200 metros en la pista del Estadio Olímpico de Londres, pero tampoco era necesario. De todas maneras, la marca de 19.19 segundos es suya desde hace tres años y parece estar segura, al menos por el futuro inmediato, al menos hasta que se le antoje volver a bajarla.

Pero al detener el reloj en 19.32, con sobrada ventaja sobre su compatriota Yohan Blake, el jamaiquino que cumple 26 años en 12 días instaló su nombre —con un sitio privilegiado— en el panteón olímpico y tiene asegurado para la eternidad el título de "leyenda" que tanto quería.

"Es lo que vine a hacer. Ya soy una leyenda. También soy el mejor atleta en la historia", proclamó Bolt. "No me queda nada que demostrar".

Difícil argumentar lo contrario.

Bolt ha ganado las cinco finales olímpicas que disputó —los 100, 200 y 4x100 en Beijing, y los 100 y 200 en Londres— y probablemente sumará un sexto oro si el equipo de Jamaica se impone el sábado en la final del relevo corto.

Para tener un poco de contexto: Lewis, elegido por el COI como el mejor deportista del siglo pasado, conquistó nueve oros en su carrera. Pero el estadounidense lo hizo en cuatro olimpiadas, y además con una prueba adicional, el salto largo.

"El tipo (Bolt) es de otro planeta", comentó el estadounidense Wallace Spearmon, que terminó cuarto en la carrera de los 200.

En esta era de los mil controles antidopaje, quizás llegó la hora de que alguien se invente una prueba para detectar si Bolt en realidad es humano.

El "Rayo" de Jamaica eclipsó por completo otras gestas del jueves, como el récord mundial que el keniano David Rudisha impuso en los 800 metros, la medalla de oro de Estados Unidos en el fútbol de mujeres o las tres finales del boxeo femenino, que debutó en el programa olímpico.

Rudisha cronometró 1:40.91 y le rebanó 10 centésimas a su propio récord.

"Este es el momento que había esperado por mucho tiempo. Venir acá y romper el récord mundial es algo increíble", señaló el keniano. "Vi que el clima era bellísimo y fui por el récord".

La británica Nicola Adams, y la irlandesa Katie Taylor y la estadounidense Claressa Shields también pueden presumir un logro inédito: fueron las primeras campeonas del boxeo de mujeres en unos Juegos Olímpicos.

Adams derrotó a la china Ren Cancan en la división de los 51 kilos; Taylor venció a la rusa Sofya Ochigava en los 60; y Shields superó a la rusa Nadezda Torlopova en los 75. La brasileña Adriana Araujo se llevó uno de los bronces en los 60.

Por su parte, la china Chen Ruolin volvió a demostrar que no tiene pares en los clavados, al repetir la medalla de oro en los saltos desde plataforma de 10 metros. Es el segundo título de Ruolin en Londres —también se impuso en la plataforma sincronizada— y cuarto oro olímpico en su carrera, luego de imponerse en las mismas disciplinas en Beijing.

Ruolin es apenas la cuarta mujer que revalida el título de la plataforma individual. Y apenas tiene 19 años.

"Estoy muy satisfecha por haberle dado otra medalla de oro a China", expresó Roulin. China ha ganado seis de las siete medallas de oro repartidas en los clavados —Rusia le robó el título en el trampolín de tres metros— y sólo falta la plataforma de 10 metros de hombres.

Estados Unidos, cuyo equipo de mujeres venció 2-1 a Japón en la final del fútbol, encabeza el cuadro de medallas general con 39 oros, 25 platas y 26 bronces. China, el único que le puede disputar la cima, tiene 37-24-19.
