El delantero mexicano Giovani Dos Santos no se recuperó de una lesión en la pierna derecha y estará ausente ante Brasil en el choque por la medalla de oro del fútbol de los Juegos Olímpicos.


Dos Santos se lastimó en el triunfo 3-1 sobre Japón en las semifinales y se ausentó de la práctica del jueves realizada en el Long Lane Football School, en el sur de Londres.

Se hace oficial que el mexicano Giovani dos Santos no jugará la final ante Brasil, luego de tener una ruptura fibrilar.

Se tenía una ligera esperanza de que pudiera estar en el choque ante Brasil, duelo por la medalla de oro, pero el resultado de los exámenes médicos que se le realizaron indicaron que sufrió una ruptura fibrilar y que no podrá jugar dentro de las próximas dos semanas.

Dos Santos, hijo de un ex futbolista brasileño, es uno de los jugadores más desequilibrantes en el ataque mexicano.


Marco Fabián pasaría a la delantera junto con Oribe Peralta, y Miguel Ponce entraría a jugar como volante.


"Es una lástima porque (Dos Santos) venía aportando muchas cosas al equipo", dijo Ponce. "Es triste, pero igual si no puede estar, vamos a hacer el partido por él y por el país".


México buscará el sábado su primer oro olímpico en el fútbol.
