LONDRES (AP) — Uno sacó el pie del acelerador después de la mitad de la carrera. El otro se frenó tanto que casi lo alcanzan sus perseguidores. No cabe duda que Usain Bolt y Yohan Blake a media máquina son infinitamente superiores al resto.

Con pasmosa facilidad, Bolt y Blake ganaron el miércoles sus series semifinales de los 200 metros en los Juegos Olímpicos y confirmaron que la final del jueves es un asunto que les concierne únicamente a ellos.

Bolt cronometró 20.18 casi trotando y Blake marcó 20.01 en una serie en la que disminuyó tanto la velocidad que por poco lo alcanzan Wallace Spearmon y Christophe Lamaitre.

"Lo importante es avanzar con la mayor facilidad posible. Estoy listo, esta es mi carrera favorita", advirtió Bolt, quien busca convertirse en el primer atleta que revalida los títulos olímpicos de los 100 y 200 metros.

"Esa carrera fue como un paseo en el parque", coincidió Blake.

La jornada le dejó un sinsabor a Dayron Robles, el campeón de los 110 metros con vallas en Beijing que no pudo revalidar su título en Londres. El cubano ni siquiera pudo terminar la final, al abandonar la carrera después de saltar la sexta valla y agarrarse la corva derecha.

El estadounidense Aries Merritt se colgó el oro con tiempo de 12.92 segundos, apenas una centésima por encima del récord olímpico del chino Liu Xiang, quien abandonó en las preliminares por una lesión en el tendón de Aquiles.

El estadounidense Jason Richardson cruzó la meta segundo y el jamaiquino Hansle Parchment fue tercero.

Allyson Felix, tres veces campeona mundial de los 200 metros, finalmente conquistó el oro olímpico en la distancia, luego de haber terminado segunda en Beijing 2008 y Atenas 2004.

La estadounidense detuvo el reloj en 21.88 segundos, para superar por 21 centésimas a la jamaiquina Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. La estadounidense Carmelita Jeter se llevó el bronce.

"Pensé en la desilusión que tuve en Beijing. Ha sido un camino largo, pero nunca me rendí", señaló Felix. "Ha sido toda una epopeya, nunca fácil, pero no puedes perder de vista tu sueño. Es increíble, lo quería desde hace mucho tiempo. Este momento es incalculable".

En la pista del Estadio Olímpico también debutó Caster Semenya, quien hace tres años tuvo que someterse a pruebas de corroboración de género, y la sudafricana sorteó sin muchos problemas las eliminatorias de los 800 metros.

La corredora sudafricana estuvo sin competir casi un año mientras las autoridades del atletismo decidían si la dejaban inscribirse en justas tras conquistar el título del Mundial de 2009, a sus 18 años. Tras recibir el aval, Semneya quedó segunda en el Mundial del año pasado.

Además, Sarah Attar se convirtió en la primera mujer saudí que compite en una prueba de atletismo en los Juegos Olímpicos, y fue eliminada en las preliminares de los 800 metros. Attar corrió con la cabeza cubierta con una pañoleta blanca, camiseta verde de mangas largas y mallas negras.

En las otras finales, la rusa Natalya Antyukh ganó los 400 metros con vallas y la estadounidense Brittney Reese se impuso en el salto largo.
