Londres — El mexicano Yahel Castillo se clasificó en el cuarto lugar a la final de clavados desde el trampolín de tres metros, en una cerrada disputa por la punta con dos atletas chinos y un ruso.
La lista de los 12 clasificados a la final, prevista para la noche del martes, fue encabezada por el chino Chong He, quien acumuló 510,15 puntos y mantuvo un duelo con el mexicano por la punta de la clasificación hasta el último de los seis clavados.
En los últimos dos saltos, Castillo fue superado por He, por el ruso Ilya Zakharov, segundo lugar con 505,6 puntos, y por el también chino Kai Qin, con 500,35 puntos.
El otro latinoamericano en la contienda, el brasileño Cesar Castro, quedó fuera de la final después de un desastroso cuarto clavado, en el que hizo contacto con el agua en forma oblicua y tuvo una de las más bajas notas de la jornada, que lo dejó en el lugar 17 de los 18 semifinalistas.
Castillo terminó la ronda de seis clavados con 499,65 puntos, luego de bajar el promedio de puntos en sus dos últimos saltos, que coindicentemente fueron los mejores de sus rivales en la parte alta de la tabla.
Completan la lista de los 12 clasificados el estadounidense Troy Dumais, el alemán Patrick Hausding, el ucraniano Illya Kvasha, el canadiense Alexandre Despatie, el británico Chris Mears, el español Javier Illana, el australiano Ethan Warren y el malayo Ken Nee Yeoh.
El estadounidense Chris Colwill quedó en último lugar de la disputa después de un salto fallido en su sexto clavado que le mereció cero puntos.
