Londres — Natalia Ishchenko y Svetlana Romashina continuaron el martes con la supremacía de Rusia sobre la natación sincronizada, al triunfar el martes en la modalidad de dúos para apropiarse de la medalla de oro.

Las rusas mejoraron la nota que habían obtenido en las preliminares gracias a una sobresaliente actuación en la rutina libre. Totalizaron 197,1 puntos y no han perdido el oro en esta disciplina desde Atlanta 1996.

El único suspenso de la tarde giró en torno de quiénes se llevarían la plata. Fueron las españolas Ona Carbonell y Andrea Fuentes, que acumularon 192,9 unidades luego de una rutina animada, al ritmo de tango, la cual hizo que el público en el Centro Acuático aplaudiera al compás casi durante toda la actuación.

Las chinas Huang Xuechen y Liu Ou mejoraron también su evaluación de las preliminares, con una muestra impresionante de ejercicios de piernas, que les concedió el bronce con una calificación de 192,870.
