La jornada olímpica de este lunes estuvo bañada por las actuaciones de los latinos en las diversas disciplinas que disputaron medallas. Cuba, Dominicana y Brasil consiguieron el lunes tres títulos olímpicos en una de las jornadas más fructíferas para el deporte de la región en unos juegos olímpicos, en la que cubanos y dominicanos hicieron dobles con medallas de plata y Puerto Rico se llevó un bronce.

La sorpresa: Muy temprano, el brasileño Nabarrete Zanetti destrona al campeón Chen Yibing y se lleva el oro en anillos de la gimnasia artística varonil.

El oro a la jornada olímpica: El oro de Félix Sánchez y la plata de Luguelín Santos paralizaron momentáneamente la República Dominicana el lunes. En la misma competencia del dominicano Sánchez, el puertorriqueño Culson, quien ganara la medalla de bronce.

Lo malo: La favorita estadounidense, Gabrielle Douglas, no pudo con la presión y quedó última de la final las barras asimétricas, prueba que ganó la rusa Aliya Mustafina.

Lo triste: La reina olímpica de Atenas 2004 y Beijing 2008, Yelena Isinbayeva, pierde su trono en el salto con garrocha, el cuál le fue arrebatado por la estadounidense Jennifer Suhr de Estados Unidos. Aquí la gran sorpresa fue la cubana Yarisley Silva, quien superó a la dos veces campeona olímpica, y se llevó la plata.

Lo dramático: En un partido para cardiacos, a casi 20 segundos de terminar los tiempos extras e irse a penales, la selección femenil de fútbol de Estados Unidos venció el tercer gol que le daría el triunfo y su pase a la final de la disciplina, dejando fuera a la selección de Canadá, que le apostaba a la tanda de penales para aspirar al oro.

Lo curioso: Hace días el nadador estadounidense Lochte reconoció que orinaba en la alberta, hoy fue el turno de su compatriota Michael Phelps, quien reconociera ante las cámaras lo mismo.

Las esperanzas: En deportes por equipos, las "Leonas" argentinas, grandes favoritas del hockey sobre césped, avanzaron a las semifinales del torneo, mientras que la "Albiceleste" también clasificó a los cuartos de final del vóleibol masculino, donde enfrentará.
