LONDRES (AP) — Llegó la hora. El duelo más esperado de los Juegos Olímpicos subirá el domingo al escenario estelar del atletismo: Usain Bolt vs. Yohan Blake.

Los bólidos jamaicanos tendrán que sortear primero las semifinales de los 100 metros, pero a menos que ocurra alguna sorpresa, deben verse las caras por la noche en el Estadio Olímpico de Londres para decidir quién es el hombre más rápido del planeta.

Ambos superaron el sábado sin dificultades el trámite de las preliminares. Blake lo consiguió con el tercer mejor tiempo de todas las series (10.00) y Bolt con un 10.09, aunque quedó claro que corrieron a media máquina. Los estadounidenses Ryan Bailey (9.88) y Justin Gatlin (9.97) fueron los más veloces.

De todas formas, la atención estará posada sobre los portentos caribeños.

Bolt fue el rey absoluto de la pista hace cuatro años en Beijing, donde ganó con récords mundiales los 100, 200 y 4x100, mientras que Blake ha surgido como su némesis desde que conquistó el Mundial del año pasado y lo venció hace poco en el preolímpico de Jamaica.

"Estoy ansioso por correr las semifinales mañana", comentó Bolt, quien asegura haber dejado atrás las molestias físicas que lo aquejaron en meses recientes. "Las piernas están bien, mi entrenamiento ha sido fabuloso".

Este no será el único duelo de lujo el domingo, cuando comienza la segunda mitad de los Juegos. La atención también se posará sobre el césped de Wimbledon, donde el suizo Roger Federer y el británico Andy Murray disputarán la final del tenis de hombres.

Federer venció a Murray hace un mes en la final de Wimbledon, por lo que el público británico palpita una revancha en la que salga airoso su consentido. Pase lo que pase, Federer ya aseguró su primera medalla olímpica en singles.

"Espero que sea un gran partido", comentó Murray. "Creo que el torneo se merece una gran final. Espero que podamos dársela".

La jornada que pone en marcha la segunda mitad de los Juegos reparte 23 medallas de oro, incluyendo el maratón de mujeres y las dos primeras en la lucha grecorromana,

La colombiana Caterine Ibargüen, medallista de bronce en el pasado mundial, competirá en la final del salto triple, mientras que el dominicano Luguelín Santos correrá en las semifinales de los 400 metros, en las que también estará el sudafricano Oscar Pistorius, el primer atleta con las piernas amputadas que compite en unos Juegos Olímpicos.

El boxeo de mujeres debutará en las olimpiadas, mientras que la rama masculina tendrá sus primeros medallistas cuando se disputen los cuartos de final de las divisiones gallo y completo, en las que hay dos cubanos, un mexicano, un argentino y un brasileño. Los cuatro semifinalistas en el boxeo aseguran al menos un bronce.
