LONDRES (AP) — La ciclista rusa de pista Victoria Baranova fue expulsada de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres, tras dar positivo en un análisis antidopaje.

Un portavoz del organismo regulador de este deporte dijo el viernes a The Associated Press que a Baranova le fue detectada testosterona durante un análisis efectuado el 24 de julio en Bielorrusia. La prueba se realizó a petición del Comité Olímpico Internacional, como parte del programa de rutina, previo a la participación de los deportistas en Londres 2012.

El vocero Enrico Carpani dijo que Baranova ha abandonado ya los Juegos.

"Admitió su culpabilidad, no tuvimos problema con eso. Y abandonó los Juegos hace un par de días", informó.

Baranova, de 22 años, obtuvo la medalla de bronce en la prueba de velocidad del campeonato europeo, y ha sido dos veces campeona continental sub23, tanto en velocidad como en el "keirin".

Baranova, entrenada por su padre Alexei, aparece como segunda del escalafón mundial de velocidad y keirin.
