LOS ANGELES (AP) — El misterio de la desaparición de la madre de Michael Jackson se resolvió el jueves con la difusión de documentos de la corte según los cuales le impidieron comunicarse con otras personas durante su estancia en un balneario en Tucson y desconocía que la habían reportado como desaparecida.
Katherine Jackson declaró en los documentos obtenidos el jueves que no sabía que la estaban buscando hasta que escuchó accidentalmente un reporte en televisión.
Agregó que le dijeron que su médico ordenó que guardara reposo y que la llevaron a Arizona. Una vez en el balneario, le confiscaron su celular y su iPad y la colocaron en una habitación sin teléfono o televisión.
La abuela dijo que preguntó sobre los hijos de Michael y que le dijeron que estaban bien.
La revelación es el más reciente giro en una serie de incidentes que comenzaron cuando Katherine Jackson fue reportada desaparecida y luego hallada en el balneario con otros familiares.
Los documentos fueron divulgados después de que un juez la restituyera como la tutora de los chicos en un acuerdo que también mantiene a "TJ" Jackson, el primo de los hijos del cantante, como cotutor temporal.
El juez de la corte superior Mitchell Beckloff dijo durante una audiencia que un investigador que revisó la atención que recibían los menores encontró que la madre de 82 años del fallecido astro pop era una tutora excelente y que los menores la quieren mucho.
"Creo que los chicos están en manos fabulosas", dijo el juez. "Por el reporte parece que Katherine Jackson ha hecho un trabajo maravilloso y que se preocupa mucho por los niños".
Beckloff agregó que Prince, de 15 años, Paris, de 14, y Blanket, de 10, también tienen una relación estrecha con TJ Jackson, de 34 años, quien fue nombrado tutor temporal la semana pasada tras trabajar cercanamente con Katherine Jackson desde la muerte de Michael.
TJ es "increíblemente respetuoso" de la matriarca de la familia y ella lo respeta mucho a él, dijo el juez.
TJ Jackson es por ahora tutor temporal, pero el juez podría hacerlo permanente en una próxima audiencia el 22 de agosto.
El plan de tutela compartida aparentemente se creó para quitarle algo de presión a Katherine Jackson, nombrada en el testamento de su hijo como la única tutora de los chicos.
Perry Sanders Jr., el abogado de Katherine, ha dicho que el acuerdo le permitirá a su clienta enfocarse en la crianza de sus nietos y no en asuntos del cuidado de su casa o logística relacionados con la familia.
